Argentinian threats against companies working in the Falkland Islands have no basis in international law, the Times reported, citing an oil explorer that plans to begin drilling in the area.

Tim Bushell, chief executive officer of Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd. (FOGL), said that unless companies acquire assets in Argentina that could be seized, international law provides no grounds for legal action against them, the London-based newspaper reported.

Last month, Argentina’s embassy in London sent letters to as many as 15 banks, including Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc, Barclays Plc and Goldman Sachs Group Plc, warning that they would face criminal and civil action in Argentine courts for advising Falkland oil explorers or even publishing research notes about them, the Times said.

LOL Argentinians take a page out of the American playbook. Unfortunately they don't have reaches of US/EU financial institutions. It's more to do with embarrassing the Brits. But locally it does put US/EU banks to a difficult position.

If another Falklands war occurs South America on Argentina's side however the USA won't get involved like the last war, if obama wins I can actually see him siding with argentina.

So I heard. Did US support the Brits other than vocally on the last war? I still remember Britain used QE2 to transport her troops, and no wonder their morals were so high.

You are right there. We are Lions led by Donkey's. No the Thatcher Nuke myth is just that.. a Myth. Why would we Nuke a country over the Falklands.. ? Why would we kill thousands of innocent Argentinians with nukes? Have you heard the phrase 'Sledge Hammer' to crack a nut?' We could have bombed their mainland bases with conventional bombs using our Vulcans (Part of the intention of the 'Black Buck' raids on Stanley Airbase was to demonstrate that we could if we wanted to) The problem is at the moment we have a coalition between the Lib Dems led by Limp wristed weakling Clegg.. who stops everything the Conservatives try to do. I have also met and spoken to Mr Cameron many times during his election campaign on tour (I work in Media) and he impressed me with his speeches., unfortunately I and many others are pretty disillusioned with him now.. We need a strong leader like Thatcher or Churchill- they had their many faults but stood up for THIS country, instead of the present mob who are afraid to upset Europe. In fact they are afraid to upset ANYONE.
