then we,ll have 35 different governors ,ministers , sectriate etc the full shabaam
so the consensus is it would be easy to manage!!!
we r fedup with the zardaris, gunjas , etc with them taking the bulk of the budget, then we might never see a dime
the hell with it , i say go for it just make my street a province so i can be a governor

The idea of opening thread also came when yesterday i saw slogan of PAT of 35 provinces from bus written on wall in Karachi....

PPP did work hard in their last tenture to divide the province but that was all for political gains---
Rightly said that dividing province is a no one day game and takes time, but for starters, initiatives have to been taken, and I dont even see anyone talking in assembly for that
Even if we postpone the idea of new provinces, we will be on good start with Local Body Election, but the bureaucratic structure specially Pakistan Administrative Service is too strong to let them happen, after all, they will be loosing all their powers with LBG

If imran khan would be making a long march for LB elections that would make more sense than the fasadi march that he has planned for 14th august.

I have always been supporter of more provinces.

In my opinion 16 - 28 is the deal number but wouldn't mind 35 provinces too.

The provinces should be big enough to distribute resources and start mega projects independently but also small enough to be manageable by one entity. Israel is about 20,000 square kilometres, I wouldn't mind breaking the provinces to 20,000 square kilometre each taking the total number of provinces to 800,000 / 20,000 = 40 provinces.

Having a province of about 50k square kilometre will easy create 16 provinces in Pakistan. Many popular countries are of not that size

I am not sure if most who seek further division know the implications of what they ask for.

Politicians seek more provinces because it serves as a method to break up an opposing party who is strong and has a huge base - someone whom they cannot defeat in the ballot they want to undo by splitting the electorate.

Next, who benefits ? - it will be the Politicians, the babus , the Police - more Governors, more CMs, more IGs, more civil servants - in short accelerated promotion for all.

Instead of seeking development by this short cut what the electorate should seek is greater accountability and transparency - the RTI in India alone has changed the dynamics of governance.

I do not wish to show India as an example but before you guys decide or make up your mind see how poorly some smaller states have performed & how huge states have been turned around by good governance in India.

Instead of breaking up states , break up the old archaic laws & institutions that prop up these large states - Seek Land reform, seek removal of Wadheras and similar people, reduce land holdings and so on.

Remember , once an egg is scrambled, there is no way it can be undone , dont scramble it unless you are sure you want it that way.

As long as they are created under administrative needs, i'd support such a move.

If Punjab was divided into 15 provinces, do you really think that 'Khadim-e-ala' would be able to spend 45% of Punjab's budget on Lahore?

More provinces be also an antidote to feudalism, as their influence would be curtailed by design.

Turkey and Switzerland has dozens of provinces and they work well. What we need to avoid is creating provinces along ethnolinguistic lines instead of administrative lines.

cant even handle 4 provinces and we are talking about 35.....we are the master of mismanagement and its evident in every walk of life within our country. as an individual we might be as talented as anyone around but as a group well we all know how we perform.

Anyways 35 provinces is not a viable solution, more provinces means more corruption and this is the only thing wether we are alone or in a group nobody can come near to us.

they should be "states", not "provinces"
