This is my life goal.
Own an apartment, a nice car and work to pay that off. Once that is paid off enjoy long vacations around the world and finally retire in Mid East.

All the wealth I earn will be mine and no one would be able to legally take it away from me.

oops my bad, hey atleast you folks are smart about it unlike us spending $3000 on a stupid cake!, personally if I had my way I would take out the ball dance and keep it to reception and meals... Rest is garbage and waste of money especially the bhangra drums(we had that for my oncle's wedding, big waste of $$$).

For me, I and my wife are at one county, two villages about 15 KM away, get married at 2011.01.25;
wedding photos：2200RMB（350$）(My mother pay for it)
Buy some new new clothes :3000RMB (475$)(My two sisters give me,1500 each)
Gold jewelry：3500 RMB（556$）(pay by my mother's card)
Cost on the wedding day at my home(including banquet，Escorting Motorcade and so on): 20000RMB(3174$) (my father and mother pay it, but Received 33000RMB（5240$） handsel from guests as custom).
cost on the wedding day at my wife's home(including banquet):15000RMB(2380$), received 16000RMB(2540$) handsel from their guests;
On wedding day,I got 1001RMB(160$) from my parents-in-law as changed fee as custom, and my wife got 2001 RMB(318$) from my parents as changed fee;(changed fee, since that day I call wife's parents "father,mother",and so do my wife), and my wife got 3000RMB(476$) from her three brothers.

So total spend:49700RMB(7888$), my sisters pay:3000,receive:0; my parents pay: 27700Rmb (4396$), receive:33000RMB(5238$); parents-in-law pay:16001RMB(2540$), receive 16000RMB; wife's brothers pay:3000RMB, receive 0; guests pay:49000RMB(7778$),receive dinner (we will pay back when they have wedding or funeral or having baby); I and my wife pay 0, receive 6000RMB(950$);

I and my wife only want wedding simple so my parents didn't give betrothal gift, and wife's parents without dowry； generally there my parents should give 30000$ as betrothal gift, and wife's parents buy dowry(Furniture, electrical appliances, kitchen utensils, computer and so on if you can use in life ) with the money, we canceled the progress since we don't need any more dowry.
