I'd love to buy the M2, will wait for it. Can't decide if to go with the 13-inch version or 14. However, I am more of windows fan but M series processors are just on another level they are miles apart from Intel and AMD.

I have M1 for video editing and it works wonders as compared to Mid 2012 macbook with twice the ram than this one.

I used this remarkable device to transfer installed counter Strike 1.5 from my friend PC to mine, it just took 3 days to fully transfer the game with Bots and maps.

I'm planning my next build for the end of the year. It's a good time to rebuild with forward compatibility for pcie gen 5, Zen 4 AMD, DDR 5 ram and Nvidias RTX 4000 series due by the end of the year. Target performance is 4k HDR 144 frames/s full ray tracing without DLSS, 8k with DLSS (depending on the game), DOOM eternal yes, Cyberpunk 2077 or control probably won't run 8k without serious compromises.

That takes me back... The first computer I assembled myself was a 450Hz PII running Windows 98.

My first computer is a 80386 that run DOS........That was in the late 80s and I remember the only thing you can do is to run some stupid DOS game like Pong and run command prompt by typing C:/DOS cd.....

That's already more advance than the first computer my brother had, it's an original Mac.

Why yes I am. PC and proud since 1994... and before that I used the humble and now forgotten Commodore 64. Although I am much to old to play mainstream games now, I still play War thunder, my main selection are games like Sim City, and Civilisation series from time to time.

Well before the internet there was cable tv and that was basically the go-to place.

Even before the 1990 Gulf War there was the Military and the Discovery Channel which had all these defense related eye-candy shows.

My favorite was FIREPOWER!

We used to get British and American TV shows run on PTV. I remember I got satellite TV in 1993 in Pakistan, cable came much later for us.

Yes indeed. Slax Linux which is based on Debian and produced by a Dutch person :

Slax is a modern, portable, small and fast Linux operating system with modular approach and outstanding design. It runs directly from your USB flash drive without installing, so you can carry it everywhere you go in your pocket. Despite its small size, Slax provides nice graphical user interface and wise selection of pre-installed programs, such as a Web browser, Terminal, and more.

Slax is now based on Debian, which gives you the ability to benefit from its entire ecosystem. Tens of thousands of prebuilt packages with applications, all within reach thanks to apt command.

It was made known to me by a friend some years ago, been using it ever since. It is good for my web usage though I have used a MS Word-like text editor on it some years ago. I miss MS PowerPoint though.

The base package comes with the GUI, text editor and network manager. For other apps like VLC and others when you have booted into the persistent boot mode and install the apps they go into the file <install root directory>/slax/changes/changes.dat which is picked up by the booted OS and the apps run from there. This file I have found you must save elsewhere to have a backup copy to replace the actual runtime copy in case the runtime copy is corrupted in case of power failure which happens almost everyday in my city. In the older versions of Slax the web browser came with the downloaded OS but in the latest version one has to click on the icon and download it which then goes in the file changes.dat.

There is another boot mode ( the last option in boot menu ) which is called "Load Slax from memory" which loads the desktop and all base apps into memory but doesn't load changes.dat ( that contains the later installed apps ) and allows you to debug the system ( like correct corrupted file systems ).

Please note an inconvinience in the latest version. I am unable to use my phone's hotspot to connect to Slax unlike in the older version. This means my phone has to be connected to the computer always via USB cable tethering option which means I keep hoping my phone doesn't explode and ruin my haseen mukhda.

But overall a good choice of OS for me.

BTW, you can do a bootable usb with Linux business. You can make them at home and sell it online. An installation that contains all essential softwares to get start. This package with small getting started guide.

Well, good suggestion but three things :

1. Linux is a complicated OS internally and it will take me months at least to understand not only how to create a USB bootable Linux image but more than that how to create or customize code for compressed RAM loading, desktop manager, drivers, network manager UI and other things.

2. In doing the above my mind will be totally diverted from my actual projects.

3. I have my former business partner's father agreeing to join my soon-to-come company as an advisor. Not a day-to-day presence in the company but still a valueable advisor with good network. He is the CTO of a company that makes drones and hovercraft but he can join as advisor. It will disappoint him if I devote time to the Linux idea instead of keeping on with my original idea. What am I waiting for, just finance about 24 lakhs to invest in five workers other than me giving them a salary of 20,000 rupees a month for eight months, then the FPGA board and its programming software that will cost about 15 lakhs in total. This is other than an an office space, furniture and fittings and three computers. So the wait is only for finance. Don't want to be distracted by another project and don't want to disappoint the possible advisor.

If you have a good fiber internet you can buy Geforce NOW for 10$ per month that will run everything on ultra, just get a cheap desktop PC and Geforce now.
