Just like Blackberry, Apple has to come to an end...those holding apple stock should get out now is the right time

I have no love for Apple, but If Apple comes to an end, it won't be anytime soon.

It only took few months for blackberry, I never owned apple device and dont intend to I dont think I miss out on anything that apple owner have and in the process i saved 1000s. Today I use my last blackberry as an alarm and soon i need to replace it with Apple when i can get one for 20 dollars :)

Like you, I also have never owned an Apple device.

Specifically, I much more prefer the Android OS to iOS, so I don't see myself ever owning an iPhone. Especially now that there is no headphone jack.

That being said, there are many people who do like Apple products, and these people will continue to buy Apple products.

Despite this setback, Apple isn't coming to an end anytime soon. Even many die-hard Apple haters acknowledge that.

A new iPhone will be released later this year just like clockwork. Future iPhone production won't suddenly stop just because of this setback.

There will be a new iPhone released later this year.

I don't think anybody is expecting a $1000+ phone to have the same sales as their previous lower priced phones.

However every year at this time stories come out before the quarterly meeting saying Apple is doomed and they are cutting inventories. People have short memories.

It's like intentional price manipulation. People get jittery and sell before the meeting. Apple announces nice profits and the stock goes up.

So Apple is cutting production by HALF, due to much weaker demand than anticipated.

Over a thousand USD for a smartphone that doesn't even have basic features like a fingerprint scanner or a headphone jack, both of which are present even on bargain basement budget phones. Not to mention that horrific "notch" on the top of the screen which blocks a large portion of the upper screen for no reason.

Does anyone here own one? I don't, my current phone is from OnePlus.

The world has moved past Apple.

Huawei's AI enabled smart phones are poised to kill off Apple in any market where there is free competition.

Huawei phones can recognize food? One hell of a selling point! :enjoy:

Nevertheless, you are either iOS or Android fan. I've been using an iPhone since iPhone 4. I now have an iPhone 8. There's nothing compelling in Android that would make me choice and I doubt many other iPhone users would do the same. I'm sure Android users feel the same. Besides, all these Android phones are doing is trying to kill each other.

Yes, IPhone X sales are not as robust as expected, but some of the technology will end up in later versions of iPhone, and probably at a cheaper price.

I get that some people will buy Apple no matter what (given the Apple ecosystem, it's something of a "captive market" which is why Apple can constantly earn supernormal profits).

But how does one explain the fact that they are charging $1000 as the base price (with Apple Care and other extras it regularly goes over $1300+) for a device that doesn't even have the most basic features of a budget smartphone, such as a fingerprint scanner and a headphone jack?

Isn't that just pushing it too far? Couldn't they have charged something like $900, while still around double the price of an Android phone of equivalent or superior hardware (like the OnePlus 5T), would still be at least reasonable?

I'm still perfectly content with my Galaxy Note 5.

You're 2 generations ahead of me! I'm still loving my Note 3! I have everything I need in that phone and I use the note function almost on a daily basis. It's like a digital post-it. The only issue I had was the battery finally conked out but as soon as I replaced it (which is another great feature about the Notes), it was back to normal. I get all the scheduled updates automatically installed so it's not like you fall behind with anything significant either. And I use the ever living daylights out of this thing running my busy every day. In and out of constructions sites, you can imagine the falls and smashes it's gone through, but with the big Otter rubber case, the phone itself is still practically brand new.

It's like intentional price manipulation.

It's a huge part of the marketing process. They spend millions of $ on just that process to ensure they manipulate the trend to make more millions of $. It's an art form that certain people specialize in.

Apple hasn't had a headphone jack since iPhone 7, which sold well. As for the fingerprint reader. If it's such a big deal, there's the iPhone 8, which still has it. The reason iPhone X doesn't have one is because it uses Face ID instead, which is a newer, and possibly, more compelling technology. But to each his own.

As for price point, you have to remember Apple products are considered at the high end of the market. People are willing to pay a premium for them. Though I own an iPhone and iPad, I never bought their computers. Just too expensive when I can get an adequate PC for a fraction of the price.

No doubt Apple has lost some appeal. When you say iPhone these days, people just aren't excited anymore.

It wont end but like blackberry it will end up being a shell of its former self due to greed and stubbornness

High end product that lakes the most basic of features hmm what good is all that premium material if you refuse to give me all the features common in the competition?

Actually they always planned to put a fingerprint scanner in the iPhone X, they just ran out of time and had to bet everything on Face ID (which Android has had over 5 years ago so not exactly new technology... and there is a reason Androids also include fingerprint scanners, because face recognition doesn't work all the time).

Also, check the speed test comparisons between Apple FaceID and OnePlus 5T Face Unlock.

Yes, but to pay a premium, there needs to be a reason. There is no reason to pay premium prices for downgraded hardware.
