Nokia Lumia 920 review: Windows Phone 8 and (a little bit of) camera magic -- Engadget

I got one, off contract from a local AT&T Store for $450. And no regrets: It is by far one of the most beautiful cell phones I have ever seen! The City Lens, the Nokia Drive and Maps..may make you not ever want to use your dedicated GPS device ever again. The long battery life. The fluidity of the interface. The beautiful interface of Windows Phone 8. It will be sad for the world of technology if Nokia dies out after having done such a good job in this hardware.

So let's support the underdogs of Microsoft and Nokia!

PS. I have no financial interests in any of these corporations.

I hope it not recycled like most Nokia phones where they put in same parts and change few features or face and then charge a arm and a leg. what is the rating of the battery??? mah?? hours??. Have you seen the wireless charger phones it just a coil charger box and pack build inside the phone and when you put phone next to it, it charges it up, nikola tesla invention.

Nokia is not dieing, after series of Windows Phones by Nokia-HTC people are taking great interest specially 920 is Hot. But personally I am waiting on Nokia-Samsung to bring some top of the line S3 like comparable Windows Phone Products because I want to spend once every 18 months that is my trend not crazy to spend every 8 months to replace smartphones.

iphone5 is better no?

May be only as far as the range of applications are concerned but then Windows Phone has 125,000 applications--how many do you need?! As far as I am concerned I don't miss a single application with the exception of a VPN client on Windows Phone--and that too is supposed to come in WP 8.5 (still a shame for Microsoft to be so late on that).

Anyway, there are comparative analysis between iPhone and WP8--especially Nokia Lumia 920.

I'd like to stress that I don't care if Google or Microsoft wins against Apple. To me Apple is a sneaky, greedy, arrogant company which has managed to brainwash millions into accepting Apple's hype. If Apple products were significantly cheaper then it would be more acceptable. They are a 'Digital Apartheid'!

Meengla Sir,

Will these apps work in Pakistan as well?

Meengla Sir,

Will these apps work in Pakistan as well?

I'd say these apps will have the same kind of limitations as they are in other platforms but, for the most part they will work. May be some 'location' based apps like Yelp etc may not have data for Pakistan (yet!) but most should work.

Oh, you guys see Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive! I don't think I am ever going to need my car's dedicated GPS device so long as I have this phone. Nokia Maps are awesome!

I did take my older Samsung Focus Windows Phone to Pakistan about one year ago and saw no problem with email etc to work. It's a different matter that in Karachi I dared not go out with that phone in public places--I wanted live! Those damn cell phone robbers in Karachi!

I don't know! My guess is Nokia have their own mapping data; when I launch Nokia Maps on this device I see 'maps.nokia.com'--so the data is probably Nokia's own? BTW, one download entire US map for off-line navigation (saves tons of data) for about 2.5 gb, Canada for about 400-500 mb. In fact there are many other countries--even the Maldives! India, Oman as well. No Pakistan yet!

I will let you know about the Nokia City Lens; I live in rural area so no much around but even in a college town where I go sometimes the experience is very different--never seen something like that before--I guess it is some kind of 'augmented reality'?

I have paired Windows Phones with other Windows Phone, a Dell laptop. Can't say about other phones. But this phone has NFC! (Which, I think, iPhone 5 still lacks!?).
