Hey there..! I am looking to buy a new laptop/desktop. i prefer Alienware because of its speed and ofc Look.

So far, i have looked to these two computers. One is laptop and another desktop.

Desktop --> The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

laptop --> The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Plz note that Monitor is NoT included with a desktop, however i already have an monitor at home that i can use.

So what do you guys think of both these computers? Thanks!

.
it all depends on what u exactly want from gaming point both PC r good gaming consoles

If u r gaming freak go for the lapi(although desktop is a good value for money)
i prefer laptop for it protability n hate it when it comes to battary life
Another point is that u might have to shell out a bit more money on for upgrading the memory to 8gb n blue ray player(actually it depends on what u like to play on it)

As far as the desktop is concerned what i like the most is that its very easily upgradable (most of the time u can do it urself), unlimited battary life(big advantage)
one more thing is that u may like to upgrade the graphic card to 2gb again depends upon what u play

Another point is that u mentioned that u already have a monitor so do check whether its max resolution can support ur graphic card(if u went for 2gb upgrde for high HD gaming)

Note: i don't knw what makes u think alienware lapi has ofc look i can identify it just anywhere other point is a 17'3'' lapi ain't gonna be lightweighted or easy to carry

Assemble one yourself, you'll learn a lot, and build something better than any other branded machine out there. Mine can smoke Alienware anyday, and costs half.

If you want gaming and don't need it to be portable then either build it yourself or go to your local Chinese area and get them to build it. It will be loads cheaper.

If you want a gaming laptop then it's going to be expensive but you can check out this site NCIX - Buy Computers, Computer Parts, Laptops, World's Leading Discount Computer Store or Newegg.com - Computer Parts, Laptops, Electronics, HDTVs, Digital Cameras and More!

Also, you could buy all the parts for your PC from those sites as well.

I buy all my PC parts from NCIX, I find they give the best price/service

Yeah, if you build your own computer you can beat that Alienware in performance easily at half the price.

Alienware is a premium brand-name that implies high-end performance, great looks and huge prices. So unless you need to tell your friends "I just bought an Alienware" then try to build it yourself or get a company to build it for you and then ship it. That would be better value for money.

yea...thanks guys. Lot of people said told me to build it myself instead as it will cost way less and have 3x graphic card. I heard Alienware computers are just over priced.

so that's what i am gonna do. build it myself. i have resources and know people who could help me!

Wow DG, I totally forgot that you existed. Nice to see you back.
Well, Alienware would be heavy for pockets. I recommend buying Toshiba as they have best laptops in terms of dependency and stamina.

Building one yourself is not difficult, and there are literally thousands of Youtube videos that will guide you through it step by step.

But if you don't want to build it by hand, you have the option of getting a local computer company to build it for you at a reasonable price.

I always prefer laptop, you can carry it anywhere. Desktop is dabba(box).

My friend bought small size Sony viao few years back and he had a big screen monitor attached to it.

buy some refurbished laptops, i have bought the same, ot comes with warrenty and most of the time its completely new with covers and stuff, it will be very cheap, and in USA computers are already so cheap

BOL

Well, price is not a big problem for me. My budget is up-to $1500. However i would also hate to spend on something that i can build myself with better hardware.

I was going to chose XPS that is much cheaper then Alienware and with even better features, but their desktops/laptops aren't that stylish as Alienware's.

Thanks! Started going to college and also got hooked up to this erepublik game. i know those laptops are pretty heavy, but that's why i prefer desktops more. i am not buying it for carrying arroud. my ipad and iphone can do pretty much.
