Well, the Cantonese are the Sinic group that largely absorbed the Tai-Kadai groups, that's why their phenotype has been largely shifted to the southern one.

But many Cantonese can also pass as the northerners.

Most Hong Kong entertainers are pro Western and anti China. I cannot think of one famous actor that came out publicly during the failed Umbrella demonstration telling the demonstrators they are wrong.
I did see one Hong Kong show with Anthony Wong ( a mixed race traitor) who was being quite nasty to his guest Flora Chan, who was pro China based on her responses to his anti China views.
