Why target GMR?? Have they bribed the Nasheed's govt. in getting the contract??? How could a small airport fee trigger govt. ouster beats me???

If Maldives want to attract big companies like GMR to invest in their country then they should honor the contract and instill business confidence. Any wrong move could freeze any FDI in that country. As it is they may be under the sea in 25 years.... how the hell they are expecting other Chinese companies will come to their rescue?? Any business which wants to invest their own money in a tiny island like Maldives would think twice after this fiasco.

Any post from wind jammer Indians must desist from commenting coz he is convinced india is to be blamed for any and all malice in the region.When some one has jaundice everything around him looks yellow there is nothing one can do about it.

Maldives is a ineipendent country and has every right to take any decision regarding there country we Indians read too much into things and tend to love and hate with the same speed.No need to play messiah or the policemen of Maldives...regarding GMR they are a independent company and must have done their due deligence before getting into the contract.I am sure their are enough clauses in the contract to ensure they come out unscathed.

If GMR were to make huge profit from these investments will any one gain anything except the group so no need to get emotional.As Indin companies start getting global such challenges will come and they should learn to deal with it.

Government should have expresed its displeasure to the Maldives government on the decision and now must ensure that the Indin entity is proteced as per international rules of business.

Maldives can lean towards China but by the time China has a mature PLAN projecting power into the Indian ocean, Maldives will be struggling for survival due to the nature taking a toll. So no worries there.

Wow that's Interesting new for us the evil commie, not long ago India was trying at all cost to counter China in Maldives Marathon diplomacy. It's great to have Maldives as friend.

If that happens, India need to live with it like how India was living with US in Diego Garcia when both were in the opposite sides during the cold war. But mind it, China is not US or NATO in terms of military power or military alliance while India can be part of a powerful group made up of US, Japan and Vietnam. So it is not a one way street for China. China needs to be wary of the impact of having a base in Maldives. And Maldives need to wary of taking on India as well.
