Another Pakistani in billion dollars club ...

My late grandfather had a favorite saying which translates into " The best mare is the one you are riding". This could apply to wife, your land, your house and even in this case. Pakistanis outside Pakistan may become millionaires, billionaires or even richer than Bill Gates; it does not help the country nor the countrymen unless they invest the bulk of it in Pakistan.

I am happy for the gentleman because rather a Pakistani than anyone else but that's about it. I will happier if he decides to invest the bulk of his fortune for improving the lot of the poor Pakistanis in Pakistan. I don't mean just building another school or a hospital, I mean he should invest in job-creating opportunities for the poor.

Seeing as his company is expanding the ride sharing service in Pakistan and building one of their hubs there too, I would argue that he is creating jobs. He could have went with a number of other countries outside the middle east which are "safer" (relatively) investment destinations.

Billionaires are a product of a failure in society and capitalism.
So much wealth in the hands of the few is a really really bad thing.

Billionaires are by product of a large economy. They are the drivers of growth, employment and innovation in any country. Just dissing them for making money is absurd.

Not true.
On every account.
Billionaires are a product of an unjust system that allows a small few to capture most of the wealth.

Many smaller economies have billionaires, heck Russia has like a 100. Does not mean they are good for the economy.

You are correct.... But not in the case of this person. He came up with an idea or saw an opportunity and cashed in on it. He is a self made man and may he see more success inshallah.

The 100s of billionaires in Russia are Malik Riaz type characters who exploit corrupt system and bribe politicians to fleece the public.

It depends on the governance of the country. If it gives undue advantage to billionaires then yes. Otherwise why diss on someone who through risk and entrepreneurship made money for himself. Most of them become billionaires because the economy is large enough to accommodate them.
