Another group of Hindus returns from India with shattered dreams

WAHGA: Another group of Pakistani Hindu families that had migrated to India, to seek better living conditions and economic future, returned here Thursday, fully disappointed, but happy to return home.

Over 100 Hindus have returned to Pakistan in the past few months, who were lured to migrate to India, with promises of starting a new life and economic prosperity. However, after a real-life experience of what they said was the “horrific living conditions”, the Hindu families opted to return home. “We were far better placed here in Pakistan and had much greater financial status,” said Jesu Mal son of Radho Kachhi who was utterly dismayed by the treatment meted out to them.

“Neither we got any place to live, nor any employment,” he said and added, “when we lived in India, we realized, how much better our life was back in Pakistan.” He said the entire family decided to return. However, since the borders were closed owing to the COVID-19 restrictions, they had to stay much longer there.

The returning Hindu families would be in quarantine for fourteen days, before being allowed to return to their native hometowns. Another of the returning Hindus Rano son of Ramji, said “we left Pakistan with dreams of a better future, but what we witnessed was nothing but horrific.” He said eleven of our community members were brutally murdered and the Indian authorities just dumped them. He said no one bothered to check with them what were their requirement and no one told them anything about any of the promised employment opportunities. “India only belongs to Brahmans. They treat the rest like dirt,” Rano said.

To a question, he said still some Hindu families were in India, but after witnessing the despicable living conditions, the murder of 11 Pakistani Hindus, and attitude of locals, “I would request all to return home and live with dignity and honour.” “I would never ever advise anyone to make the same mistake of migrating to India, and we are lucky to be back alive,” Rano Ramji said.

Members of the Pakistani Hindu community warmly welcomed the returning community members and presented them rose garlands, as they walked back into Pakistan, with high hopes for a better and secure future.

Perhaps they didnt know that Shri Modi G was brining CAA for people like them. They would have received the prestigious Indian citizenship.

Shame on the ISI conspiracy where they are bringing these Pakistanis back, Bahkts are right these were Pakistani agents send by Pakistan Army and now calling them back to defame his excellency Mr Modi G.

There's also the forced kidnapping of young women from these families to be taken as wives by upper class Hindus, many have simply vanished.
I'm sure the Indian media will running length pieces how the evil Pakistani Muslims rape and slaughter Hindus in Sindh.

I did not see any news link in the opening post but it is sad if Hindus from pure land had to return back to pure land for a "better life".

Welcome back, Pakistan is your home.

We should debate giving the "Right of Return " to all Hindus who left Punjab, Sindh, KPK, Baluchistan to India since August 14, 1947.

As of 14th August 1947 (and since after), they were citizens of Pakistan by birth . That generation is mostly dead, but a section of the next generation still longs for the land they left behind.
It would be interesting to have a digital poll to see how many of the next generation ex-Pakistani Hindus would want to return to Pakistan.

Hindu nationalism/chauvinism is more about targetting muslims rather than elevating the suffering of the hindus.

If you ask RSS whats the issue with india, they wouldn't point out bad governance, poverty, economc system, colonial legacy, incompetent leaders, they would point muslims and mosques.

regards

Yes true , RSS Hindutva will point to the fact that all the problems India facing today is because of muslim rule, for less than a millenia and the current muslims in India.

Won't point to the huge fault lines in India as you have mentioned.

It has never crossed my mind,
but, wow, what a beautiful idea.

The funniest ( actually not so funny ) fact is that the first song in praise of Pakistan was written by a famous Hindu poet from Lahore to commemorate the founding of Pakistan.
Jagannath Azad wrote his famous song " Aye sar zameen e Pak.." which was broadcast from the newly established Radio Pakistan on August 14, 1947.
Following the anti-Hindu pogroms in Lahore, Jagannath left his land forever, but oddly was never embittered to recant his poem. He stoutly defended his poem in the face of denunciations by fascists in his new found refuge. He later moved to the UK and was called upon by the BBC Urdu Service ( radio) to recite his poem during a special program commemorating Pakistan's independence day. Jagannath did visit Pakistan again very briefly to attend a mushaira shortly after independence in 1949, when Pakistan and India (very briefly) had a visa free travel protocol.

There were many Pakistani origin Hindus who while living in India kept in touch with their Muslim friends back in Pakistan via correspondence hoping to somehow retain their connections. After their deaths copies of some of their letters ( extracts ) are available online. Not all letters produced a response. The writers kept copies nonetheless. The early crude facsimiles machines ( known then as "photostats" ) have retained fading almost illegible copies of these letters.

From 1971-1979 there was no travel, postal, mail, telegraph or telephone links between India and Pakistan and the embassies were closed. So whatever outreach the Hindus of Pakistani origin were making ended.

Obviously this gut wrenching emotional trauma was a propaganda gold mine.
During this period the All India Radio used this sentiment in a subtle propaganda program called "Awaz de kahan hai ...". The program was clever.
A person making the outreach would record his name, former place of residence and a message to his former friend, neighbor or acquaintance giving very specific details, which only two families or friends would know ( example: a school teacher ). The voice message was followed by a pre-partition movie film song or folk music. Sometimes the person making the voice message would be located abroad most often in UK so would provide a P.O. Box number address for correspondence.
This program obviously had severe security implications, so it was not surprising that Pakistan wised up and after sometime began jamming the broadcasts .

Very enlightening, thank you.

But, perhaps the original idea of right to return, might not be so workable, as clearly you cannot trust India. Besides it being controversial, the practicalities are impossible without Ernest peace.

Still, the idea has beauty, suppose that will have to suffice.

Even Indian Twitter users are cursing Modi for failing them.
Oh I do like how you use the term 'pure' to mock Pakistan. India is far dirtier in every way.
Shall we look at the environmental performance index.

You might to want to look at where dear India is;

Pakistan is at 142
India is 168

Yes carry on calling Pakistan pure, it is so much more purer than India.
Let's not even go into how overcrowded India is as well, far more than Pakistan.

"Pak" means pure no?
India does not claim to be pure or perfect.
You should not compare pure or perfect (or their claimants) with those who dont claim either.
Edit: Thanks for the link. An impartial source would have been better for an Indian. Nevermind.

You just made yourself look silly, regards.
To you. I never claimed to be "know it all" either.
Edit: Just realized you are a Senior Mod. I hope, you can taken a bit of humour, sarcasm and reality (even if its bitter). Most mods on most sites are trigger happy. I was a mod on an Indian site. Never banned anyone except for personal rants and/or abusive language (that too after multiple warnings).
