Ankara mulls cutting political ties with EU if chapter vetoed

If Greeks announce their maritime border we have to pass from Greek territorial waters while sailing between marmara sea and mediterranean sea and accepting Greek EEZ means, to leaving all the hydrocarbon reserves in Eeagean Sea to Greeks. Both unacceptable by us and i don't think, we will accept any international courts judgement.

Well, that's your decision but i still think that the EU is not unreasonable to ask that international law be respected.

Of course we would welcome free money even if it isn't in billions but millions. But I don't think our government will trade it's political power by subduing to EU for money. Even we if accept and make it happen, all of the EU's demands. One member country like France or Germany can still veto us in the end.

A few months ago, we didn't have problems with Germans but with Frenchs. Now vice versa. Maybe a few months later, English will oppose us than Spain who knows.

If you had known Turkish language and read the comments of the mainstream news sites. You would see Turkish people, generally oppose the idea of joining EU and they don't trust EU.

I've noticed that the germans and the french like to play a bad cop/good cop in the EU.they did with us regarding the schengen admission,it's one of their strategies and when they don't want their direct interests beeing affected they usually get a stooge to veto something for them like the Netherlands or Finland for example.
In the end,if you say that even the turks don't want to join this is becoming a non issue for both parties.I think we should have a yes or no answer so we could save both our time and even money.

I read the lead article, but I do not understand what exactly the issue is -- What exactly is in the Regional chapter, why are EU powers and Turkiye at odds, over exactly what?

I won't go into debate what you need, but the simple fact is you are already received a sizeable amount, in several billions.

Free money always welcomed. :yahoo:

The same judiciary under which Turkey is no.1 in the world in the category of locked up journalists? Sounds European to me.

Bro, i'm not defending these issues but in every time Eu throws these issues at our face and threatens our EU membership. If you couldn't learn by now, let me tell you, Turks are really proud people and EU's sincerity diminishes with their every new statement.

Sir , i think you know about Turkey's full membership negotiations EU. There are some reforms to be done by Turkey in order to reach EU standart. Each chapter represents a subject.

Opened chapters.
Free Movement of Capital
Company Law
Intellectual Property Law
Information Society and Media
Food Safety, Veterinary & Phytosanitary Policy
Taxation
Statistics
Enterprise & Industrial Policy
Trans-European Networks
Environment
Consumer & Health Protection
Financial Control

Despite the fact that full membership negotiations started in 2006, EU has only opened 13 chapters out of 35 and has closed only one chapter. The last chapter the EU to be opened was in June 2010. And now Germany refuses to open a new chapter. I see this like a joke, by this speed we could be a member at 22th centuary.

Thank you for your kind attention - Some have said that Germany is under domestic political compulsions - Hve you any information to offer as to what these compulsions are and who is involved?

I'm sure Turkiye are the best judges of their interests, I do hope they will realize that partnering with SA and Qatar, especially in a sectarian war, was best avoided

Basicallyfor votes.
Six out of 10 Germans are opposed to Turkey joining the European Union. EUROPE - Majority of Germans opposed to Turkey EU entry: Poll

Me and New Turkish Foreign Policy thinks different. We have improved and keep improving our relations with Arab countries. Our exports, bilateral trade sky rocketed it the last 5 years. We also improved in relations in both political and military areas.

Some latests improvements with KSA (not mentioning other Arab countries)

-Last month Erdogan met with Prince Salman Bin Abdülaziz Al Suud (defence minister and next king).
-An joint air exercise was hold in KSA last month.
-We have an on going joint air exercise in Turkey(Anatolian Eagle 3)
-Erdogan met with Saudi Arabian National Guard Mut'ib Minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah days ago.
-Defence companies of both countries started to collaborate between themselves.
-Suudi companies investing in Real-Estate soctor in Turkey,

list goes on like this.....

Obviously our Romanian friend somehow did seem to think that police violence is less than Turkey.

Here's a video.

İf these standarts are enough for e.u. then İ realy dount Turkey is not up to it.

Now lets discuss Holland. The duych riot police tactics are way different then Turkish police.
This has it's own reasons.

Dutch tactics are usually.

Raids with club beating.
Attack dogs.
Police horses charging.

Turkish tactics are usually.

Tear gas.
Pressurized water.

Turkish police likes to keep their distance , dutch police likes close combat.

Here's a compilation of video's of duych police.

Here's a video the picture at the beginning is a usual police horse charge.(don't watch the rest, it's just about the picture)

Now a european bred horse of that size stepping on your back is quite dangerous.

France police is on violence much worse then dutch.

So before any hypocrit eu member speaks about the Turkish police. They first should clean up their own trash.
(greek, spanish, italian riots)

Trash away if it makes you feel better,i've trashed it myself many times for good reasons, you see, unlike many people here who imediately get offended when somebody says anything about their countries i actually know that my country is less than perfect so i tend not to get b%tthurt about it.
You can post any link you want,i didn't see anywhere in Europe 4 dead people during a few days of demonstrations in the last years.I'm just stating the obvious,if you'll see my previous posts i think it's obvious i'm not a Turkey hater.

No one says that Turkey is perfect. No one says that Turkey is a full democracy.

The only thing people get annoyed of is the hypocrisy of the e.u . They were just looking for another reason to block e.u talks.
And if you haven't seen people dying in the riots, İ sincerely suggest you take a look in the greece riots.

Really İ don't give a damn about e.u . İ don't want Turkey to join e.u and if you have followed the Turkish section, many others don't want that either.

I also dont want that Turkey joins EU but we should keep deal with EU.
Its a fact that our Country must do more for Democracy and Human Rights.

I do not give a damn about the EU like many turkish citizens. We do not need hypocrites anymore who try to control us under their sphere of influence. What we need is to have a stable democratic government who keep the economy well. When our government provides freedoms, welfare, and a good quality of life for the citizens like in the US, the EU will beg us to join them. If you think that EU thinks of our citizens` right like they spoke out against the Gezi Park issue, then you make a big mistake. Like history taught us, EU never ever thinks our citizens but their interests. Despite many mistakes, Turkiye has developed and grown. We do not beg EU or USA anymore, we have a good economy, we are closing the gap regarding the technological issues, and most importantly we (almost) follow our own foreign policy. Today, turkish sphere of influence has grown and is perceived a threat by EU and USA. Economically, Turkiye has decided to make the istanbul as a financial center so that $7 trillion is around the turkish border can flow to Turkiye. Today, England and Germany appraise that IFC (Istanbul Financial Center) will affect London Financial Center or Frankfurt Financial Center. As today, England controls the $500 billion of Interest Free Banking fund. Just think this, Turkiye as a muslim and democratic country who provides many good opportunities for other muslim capitals and muslim countries invest in Turkiye and transfer their money in turkish interest free banks, who would lose? In addition, Turkiye develops many weapons in NATO standards and willing to sell muslim countries. What do you think EU or USA think of Turkiye?

Tiny? Your police ran out of riot gas for God's sake!
Sry to brake it to you but Turkey doesn't fulfill the democratic requirements needed for a modern european country, each day you look more and more like a middle eastern dictatorship and yes we take democratic rights of the citizens very seriously here in the EU.It might be true that Germany opposed Turkey's admission all along but now Erdogan has fed the germans ammunition for years to come.

Some truth in it but anyway Turkey is way ahead of Bulgaria, Romania heck even Greece.. this attitude towards Turkey just a doublestandard..
