Angry India tells US 'times have changed' after diplomat spat

Strange that some Indians here are acting as if the US somehow needs that relationship more than India needs the US.

See this is the problem with threats. If you get called on them, it can be extremely embarrassing when ultimately there is nothing you can do.

If I were a psychologist I would say India is lashing out due to an interesting combination of insecurity and inexperience on the world stage. While it may appear to be an inflated sense of self-worth, I think stating "the world has changed" is very telling.

For such a bright People, some Indians are being immensely short-sighted and reactionary to this story.

you are partly right. After seeing how Sammy uncle deals with its friends and allies, india is very insecure and this insecurity increases with closer ties. India at some level dislikes being treated as a junior partner and this explosive reaction is by product of that.

Really Injin.....Is that all you can come up with?! LOL!

i am very impressed you can type on the keyboard. most retarded people find that difficult

India mindset believe US losing ground on world stage and need to accommodate India demand when the need arrived, low and behold US status in the world never vanish or lose ground to anyone for any nation. US will enforce the law according to US law when it justifiable to do so on the US land, no nation can demand US for an apology or toil the line of any nation on this planet earth.

In the last two years India has watched a "dove" US leader fly a B-2 at NK and a B-52 at China in response to threats. This is not about the US.

This is about India feeling threatened by two aggressive nuclear-armed foes on its doorstep.

They want to send a message that they can "stand up" to the US like China and Pakistan, but instead are showing an absolute ignorance regarding the US justice system.

As an American I can tell you there is no conspiracy against India, nor any game being played here. If this is a mistake then it needs to be dropped.

But publicly stomping your feet and bringing attention to it? Now it is the US who has to consider image as far as how this is handled.

Indeed world has changed ....It's no longer Unipolar ....Emerging countries like China , India have challenged US hegemony ....that's why US attempt to pit India against China ...

Unfortunately gone are those days where US could force its whims and fancy over other countries ...

Off course self-obsessed country like US which suffers from highest degree of Superiority complex tends to lapse into past where its words used to be taken as Decree ...

If US is not at fault why did it expressed regret ...to small , third world country like India ???

Off course US is at fault so it did express regrets in private ....just not able to bend low enough to tender apology due to burden of arrogance over its shoulders ... !!!

To accept mistakes and apologize wholeheartedly ....it takes a big heart and a magnanimous mind ...both which US lacks miserably .....!!!

Thanx Dude, I'm equally impressed that you can also type & 'defecate' out in the open with all the 'Incredibly Smelly India' has to offer!

Who is Injins , Please care to explain ....????

It is a racist slang that was used against the Natives in the 18th and 19th century Americas.

Because most of the Pakistanis, since their childhood, are taught the racist concept of 'Martial Race' - a myth created by the divisive white Brits, they cannot help looking at the world in similar racist ways - black is bad and dirty, white is clean and angelic.

But the problem is, Pakistanis are neither white as Europeans, nor dark as Africans. So it becomes very hard for them to find a racist slang to throw at Indians that wouldn't go back at them. So they dig up the leftovers of bygone racist eras and try to throw them at Indians with the hope that it may make them feel better. Does it? Only they would know.

You should forgive him, for he knows no better.

Oh My Gawd. The Indians have no concept of law and order. And India is a free democratic country. What a joke?

The US embassy stuff did not break any LOCAL laws in paying its servants who work in the country the embassy is serving.
This Indian woman broke the LOCAL laws, the minimum wage laws in the US.
Do you even understand the difference?
What the maid got pay an hour couldn't buy her a subway ticket. It is foolish to compare of what she made in rupee equivalent. She worked and lived in NYC. She doesn't pay in rupee when she buy a phone card. She pays what the locals pay, that is USD.
Get this in your head. The maid was underpaid.
The Indian woman who is a known criminal in India broke the law.

The White House has no say in dropping the those charges. That authority belongs to a different branch of the government. Unlike India, these different branches of government are mumbled jumbled together. One can pressure the other. Not in the US.

The US will not apologize doesn't matter how loud the Indian whines. The US law enforcement did everything by the book. There is nothing to apologize for.

It is also petty and childish for India to remove the protective barricades from the US embassy and take away the special privileges from the US embassy stuff. Doing that makes India an immature brat. The US now must have doubts about dealing with India because of India's behaviour. You (India) is making a fool of itself and has lost the respects from other countries.

UP THEIRS!

Actually it is arrogant to believe someone should be above a host's law because of their passport.

The US has been guilty of this in the past, but I never saw it coming from India.

i am getting really irritated with a useless person like u

why the hell do u care??

I care that all people, including the highly privileged Indians, follow the US law when you come to America. Why is that so difficult to understand? Do you want other diplomats to go to your country and importing slaves? This is not 18th century any more.

China is on another level of diplomatic front compare to India, India want make a case to the world that US need to respect India position in this world, India used this incident to play up her status in the world by demanding an apology and ignore the US law to accommodate India request. India want to make this case to the public to force US to back down as India perceive US out to humiliated them. Indian emotional overcharge to this case with their overreaction and their protest only to corner the US not to back down and don't give in to their demand.

.
well India will have cake ( read India will break US law ) and eat it too ( and get away with it too ).

Mark my words US will have to let our diplomat walk free ....
Out of all this Justice and law enforcement drama US has got nothing ...

US will have to bite dust and swallow pride ( something which they have done many times ....)

as far as difference between embassy and Consul is concerned ...keep educating ignorant yourself ...

I don't need ...since you have nothing to counter about the self -indicting US state report that I posted ...it in natural that you will sidetrack the issue with your oft repeated immunity stuff ...

US will let her go. She can be found not guilty but she has to go through a trial. Or if she is found guilty, she can leave after she serve her terms. India must not have rule of the law for you to make that kind of statement.

the ones who do that are lower castes and untouchables,i am sure you will fit in fine with them, being a retard and all. just dont pretend to be indians in the US ok?

so are you a low caste or untouchable?

The US has been guilty of this in the past, but I never saw it coming from India.

We are talking about International convention to which US is signatory ...and to which US has acceded...which supersedes the local laws ...

India is just exerting rights of its Diplomat ....

and India will prevail ....

As far as US is concerned it has no regards for any laws whether local , international or so ....

all the depiction of being law abiding and law enforcing country is a mere charade ....

when it comes to serving its own interests US conveniently breaks all laws ...

India will learn that its consulate worker must obey US law like any American. They need to learn that in America, no one is above the law, unlike India.

US will have let her go ...because it can't let carefully cultivated relationship with one country to be sabotaged by one such incidence ....

US will find out convenient loop-hole without having had to appear to have taken beating ( which is typical of US hypocrisy ) ....

I can make any statement ....I took birth in country where Freedom of expression is granted by constitution .... I am not born in some communist country with authoritarian system where one has to repeat line like a retard that government gives ....

US will let our diplomat go ...mark my words ....

all the drama about upholding justice and protecting minorities and human rights is a big mask that US pulls over its ugly face of the worst violator of human rights !!!
