Ancient "Indian" is just a modern construct by historians. I'm pretty sure the ancient people of the Indus valley did not even know what an Indian was, we actually don't know exactly what they called themselves but it wasn't "Indian." They may have just referred to themselves by the city or area they were from. I don't think we even know whether the people had a collective sense of identity, since we cannot decipher their writing.

You hit the bullseye there. For a long time I actually fell for this rubbish about India as well. One day I thought "hang on" 3,000 years aago there was no Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Japan, USA, Belgium, Turkey, Sweden, Finland in fact there was no countries at all. The name "India" is English and only gained currency about 500 years ago.

3,000 years ago forget about United Kingdom there was even no English language. So if everybody could "retrofit" their names to a time when no names like we have today existed why can't we do the same with Pakistan. As you said do you really think Harrapans or people in Taxila walked around with Indian Passports and called each other Indian?

The reality is all names we use today are in fact retrofitted. So why should we use the term Indian? All that does is gives these Bharati's next door the entire heritage of our forefathers. Because it was built by Romans. Taxila wasn't built by Haryanvis, Ganga, Yamuna people. It was built by the local Gandharans(modern day Potoharis and Hindkowans). How the hell did you compare the UK example with that of Taxila and Gandhara?

Infact the first written mention of this region being referred to as India..dates back to Greek philosophers of 400 BC.

Porus kingdom was entirely in Pak punjab, very small kingdom located between Jhelum and Chenab river. Obviously he had nothing to do Indians.
