Anatomy of an apologist: A double-act play

I've been going through some of the comments on Dawn and it appears most people on there either misinterpret the satire or deliberately misrepresent certain arguments.

It is very important that we do not apologise for terrorists. But we must be careful so as to not throw the term around too much. Or else it will become another label, just like 'Kafir'.

Considering that this is actually written by Paracha Sahib, I wouldn't be surprised if he or his group of pseudo-Liberal followers tried to extrapolate this label of ''apologist'' onto all religious people, or onto the Tribals who are actually Pakistanis and not involved in terrorism.

Once we start labeling people apologists, It's a slippery slope.

But, obviously, actual apologists need to be called out.

I'd post this as a comment on Dawn, but none of my comments there ever gets approved. They have a very biased approval system that is usually only open to Indians or pseudo-Liberals.

In this particular case, I would define it as:

Someone who has a soft corner for the terrorists and their ideology/narrative and attempts to propagate it.

That narrative being that the Pakistani State has wronged its Pakhtuns and Tribals under orders from the West and that it must be fought against to either seek separation from Pakistan or to establish a Taliban-controlled ''righteous'' state in its place.

Variations of this narrative include things like ''The evil Army oppresses them''.

Unfortunately, yes.

Obviously there are degrees of it. Many people do subscribe to parts of the narrative but they don't try to justify mass murder - others, like Abdul Aziz, do try to justify murder. The former are obviously not as dangerous as the latter.

However, Zarvan has increasingly turned pro-Pakistani as the military has brutally tackled the religious terrorists in the tribal belt in Op.Zarb-e-Azb and reduced them to a point where they are no longer able to function effectively. One would say that was bound to happen

Today, these qualifications are so cheap that many terrorists caught have Mullah, Qari, Mufti, Hafiz, Moulvi before their names. What do you expect from a person who would look for his local God's viceroys (Mullahs) opinion first on even matters of fact and logic?
