the current coalition is stuck between a rock and a hard place. no decisions are being made by the patliament. Mr, Zardari decides (on recommendations of Mr, Rehman Malik) and the rubber-stamp PM and his cabinet approves. how long are we going to witness this "Tamasha".
I know that the recent trip to USA exposed the weaknesses of our PM badly, but I think it brings to the fore a few important facts.
Realistically there were only 1-1/2 political leaders of some caliber in the country pre Nov 2007.Firstly Benazir(Ihave stopped, with great difficulty and personal hardship to call her names since her demise!!) and the half is Nawaz Sharif. I say half because of his mental capability. sadly, (or by sheer luck--Sorry!!) one of them was taken out of the political picture. The only other potentially plausible leader is neatly hidden behind the awe inspiring(NOT!!!) figure of his elder brother.
To cut a long story short, this is Pakistans first attempt at democracy under rather difficult circumstances. We need to give things time(as that appears to be all that we can do in any case!!) and things to mature and the nation to speak. I know in a few months, either people will pull their fingers out of their various orifices and get down to doing the nitty gritty(Gambling, womanizing, drinkingand other modes of debauchery that politicians really do!!!)or their will appear fissures in the fabric of democracy for newer forces to appear, apparently with indecent exposure of a lot of flab and flesh (YUKKKKKHHH!!!) I hope that the next(or the one after that!!) change of guard will bring with it some new blood with some pain(a forlorn hope) for the sufferring of the people.
Meanwhile we will continue to rue the fate of our beloved and unlucky country and suffer from Diabetes and Blood Pressure all caused by gluttony(to drown/or digest in this case, our sorrows).Irrespectiv of all our wishes the cure to the problem lies in the continuation of the process of distillation and extraction of the unworthy elements.
the greatest catastrophy would be for the army to intervene again.
So guys excuse my poetic or literary licence and pRAY AS HARD AS YOUCAN for that day to come sooner rather than later.
