You, sir, are quite the dreamer. The idea to ignore a market as big as India seems a bit absurd even for China, let alone Iran and Russia. Iran might use CPEC, at least initially, but it would prefer it own route to CAS via the Chalabar project. It doesn't want to put all its egg in one basket.

You are right, except that Iran will never prefer Chaubahar over something as sophisticated and safe as CPEC. This is the cornerstone that will force Iran to diplomatically move towards Pakistan and China. Even if Chaubahar were to go forth it would require a stable Afg first, which cannot happen unless it is in our interest.

Like Gawadar, the port will be developed first and then the road. It may not be as sophisticated as CPEC, but it still viable alternative. Even Russia would be interested in this route as well. But in the interim, Iran will be interested in CPEC presuming on a deal being made, like a connecting route to Iran. We shall see, I guess.

Pak-Iran relations are better than they have been in recent decades, albeit a few tensions on cross-border terrorism(sponsored by raw). Moreover Iran will not want a hostile neighbor just a few kilometers from this Chaubahar port. Any Iranian interests in Afg will have to be in-line with Pakistani interests (as is evident from recent developments), otherwise Iran will also have to face the brunt of regional instability.

So yeah, Iran might have used your equipment and people to build this port, and might have benefited from your market, but that was in times of sanctions. Now things are going to be pretty much different, Iran will not be dependent on India to run this port...

America is neither Pakistan's friend nor her enemy. American actions are designed in cold blood to protect their interests and its policy about Pakistan is purely guided by what suits America. Letting Pakistan become another unstable and failed nation with internal strife like Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria really does not suit America. But we have another fact that the scenario Muslim Pakistan becomes an Asian Tiger like Korea or Japan, does not go well with American defence and decision making elite most of whom have a neocon or jewish pedigree. Therefore Americans are careful to keep us just afloat while making sure that our nation does not take off economically like a tiger. And American aid is given to us with all these calculations and taking into account carefully considered American interests. Most of the American aid is channeled towards American cronies in our country who continue to become more influential after receiving the economic windfall and these cronies use this influence to make sure that we do not deviate from the path Americans want us to tread towards a perfect mediocrity and maintain status quo in our country and do not take bold actions to change the destiny of our own country. Really if we take our destiny in our own hands and make tough decisions in our country, and stop taking foreign aid linked with strings, we will have 4-5 years of pain but our future after that will be far brighter after the pain has eased but none of our leaders including our army are ready to go through this difficult time. We, as Pakistanis, have to take our decisions in total interest of Pakistan and with perfect foresight and well thought strategy something our current leaders have failed to do.
