Tienanmen is a turning point in China history. From trying to adopt democracy in the '80, to back to the root, Confucianism.

To be honest, mainland government is far more Confucian than the democracy Taiwan right now. Taiwan political system is too "Western" (aka democracy), stuck there and no room left for Confucianism (only on the media to attack mainland's Communism).

In my perspective Tienanmen Square protest is a positive thing in my eyes. Not only in the Confucianism thing in the politics, but it also in economy and development. After that event, China became confidence on herself, not trying to follow foreign ideology blindly anymore, more orderly and the result, fast economy growth and massive development.
