An Appeal Against the Bloodshed

After killing 35+ people including kids & hundreds of them injured, calling for "peace" is like mocking your own self.

:disagree:

Instead of petition, try not to elect a butcher as your PM next time ......
Because slaughter is done by Indian Terrorists forces, not by those who are using bricks of their own houses against grenades & bullets ......

And now 41. :(

Kashmir will REMAIN in INDIA ; no matter what

Wake up. The night is over and that was a dream. If Kashmiries will not step back, this is going to be the turning point of this movement and in favor of Kashmiris. Secondly, why don't you guys give them the rights to chose whom they want to be with? Because you know we won't get any vote.

. .
You can write the petition?

It has been a horrifying sight to see the state of Kashmir descend into increasing violence and greater and greater bloodshed every passing day since the death of a well-known freedom fighter. We do not, as members of the human family, have to know who is right and who is wrong, or even to know if there is indeed either a right side or a wrong side to the situation. We do know that there is a growing loss of life, and grievous injuries caused by the use of force, as well as the use of violence on an increasing scale to voice political demands.

We the signatories believe that no cause is worth even a single death, and no provocation by unarmed civilians can warrant a use of force causing either death or grievous injury. We appeal to all sides and all individuals, all organised forces and political organisations, to halt this violence immediately. Most of all, we appeal to organised administrations responsible for the governance of Kashmir, as these administrations have the greatest responsibility and the greatest burden of accountability to bear in the situation. It is for them to act first, to act fast and to take all necessary steps to bring back normalcy.

There is nothing to be lost by talking to each other, and there is everything to be lost by resorting to violence against those who do not agree with us. We hope that our appeal will be heard and will result in a return of peace, and that we may immediately thereafter put in our earnest and sincere efforts to resolve the problem permanently.

Why not urge India, Pakistan and Hurriyat to start dialogue?

Why not urge India, Pakistan and Hurriyat to start dialogue?

Sure. Going in.....

However, you on your part need to be aware that this urging is certain to put up backs, and to make people think that the petition is another pressure being brought to bear on the GoI to admit Pakistan into the administration of Indian administered Kashmir.

I will, on my part, include what you have suggested. It is just that you should know what effect this line of thought will have.

We hope that our appeal will be heard and will result in a return of peace, and that we may immediately thereafter put in our earnest and sincere efforts to resolve the problem permanently. All of us, in particular, all three parties with serious concerns about the state of affairs, India, the Hurriyat and Pakistan, need to put away past differences and work for peace together.

You'll also need a title. Perhaps something like End violence and start talking?

@balixd @Oscar @hinduguy @Armstrong @waz

What do you guys think?

.
I had read this somewhere....
We go to war to gain peace.

Hmmmm
So who is the stronger party here?
Those who are living in Kashmir???
And which weaker party are we talking about, those who should be allowed to vent out their feelings?
Hindu Pandits???

Did I read it right?
If so I support the petition.
*****

Come to think of it, there must be a reason why Lord Krishna urged Arjuna to fight Kauravas- his brothers?
My logic tells me that it is called survival of the fittest.
If we give up fighting now...
If we turn soft on rebels then we loose Kashmir forever.

I don't see a logic behind watering down Indian army's efforts by supporting such petitions.
Anyone who is a little farsighted would not support such impetuous and sentimental decisions.

Sorry for being harsh.

@Joe Shearer you are doing a good job. Would love to see the outcome and thanks to Pakistani members.
Wow!!!
This is not Wat you told me off the forum.

I see acceptance of one's naivety as a sign of weakness.

No... May be he wants something else....
And I don't want to spoil the party.
I'm not here to rain on someone's party either.
I want to say a lot of things but then I might end up hurting many.

Anyways, didn't expect you to go so soft.

Never mind!
Ciao :)

That is as novel an interpretation of Gita as I have ever seen. I am not a Hindu but to me meaning is quite clear -

Actually Krishna tells Arjun in a nustshell

jātasya hi dhruvo mṛtyur
dhruvaṁ janma mṛtasya ca
tasmād aparihārye ’rthe
na tvaṁ śocitum arhasi

Which means - For one who is born, Death is certain and for one who is dead, rebirth is certain. Therefore just do your duty which "in this case means killing Kaurvas" and do not worry or become sad for their deaths as they will be reborn.

Hardly the survival of fittest.

Survival of fittest essentially negates the Hindu Philosophy of cycle of life and death based on one's Karma. Survival of fittest suggest that strenght is the only virtue which matters not Karma or Dharma and it is the winner who lives and carries forward while dead being extinct.

Where as Gita directly contradicts this by saying that one should not let deaths interfere when one one is doing Karma for those who are dead will be born again. Born again means everyone survives as essentially soul is immortal

Right

Hardly the survival of fittest.
How did you conclude that???

Why do you think Krishna asked Arjuna to do his duty?
His duty was to kill Kauravas because if he didn't KILL Kauravas then Kauravas would have KILLED him.
Survival of the fittest!!!

So what's the excuse that you were not a science student or that your poor knowledge of mythology lead to this blunder? :)

I say ciao when I don't see anything worth discussing. In this case I have lots to say.
Let's begin by teaching you Sanskrit.
Should I? :)

I so wish you could have read my complete post where I gave the logic and justification for my views.

I dont mind rehashing all the same. Two direct contradictions -

Point 1

Survival of fittest does not take "Karma backed by Dharma" which means action backed by religious morals.

Survival of fittest is kill or be killed. No Dharma in it.

Point 2

Survival of fittest is based on extinction. You kill someone because if you dont then your life is over

Gita says Soul is immortal, so death is irrelevant. So just do your Karma and dont worry about death.

TLDR - Death is the driving force for survival of fittest. One wants to live at all costs, Dharma be damned. In Gita Death is irrelevant and Karma is the driving force

Regards

P.S. Gita is not usually classified as mythology though the overarching saga of Mahabharat is. Gita is often independently considered as mystic philosophy. Just nitpicking
