Amid coronavirus, China becomes face mask-making juggernaut

Those are just basic masks though. Where is the manufacturing equipment from? Most likely Germany. That's why China is hitting a lot of limits in trying to produce N95 masks, which are the truly effective types. The US has far more manufacturing capacity for those. China still does not make most of its advanced manufacturing equipment, it has to import them from Germany, Japan or the USA.
Nonesense, Beijing city alone just built several production lines in a week, it's easy stuff. China's production went from 20 million a day one month ago to over 200 million a day now, less than 1 months time. a true juggernaut.
As for US, good luck.

Interesting.

This kind of demonstrates what would happen should a war breakout between the US and China.

I am talking about N95 masks, which are the more effective, higher quality masks.

You are talking about these flimsy, throw away masks. It's easy to make those. You are boasting about having huge production lines. Sure, but where is the advanced machinery used to make those products from? Largely not from China.

Also, the advanced manufacturing equipment China largely uses to make these masks are from Germany. China has limited capabilities in building advanced machinery. Just like chipmaking, all of the equipment used to make chips are from ASML. China is extremely weak in advanced machinery.

医用N95口罩日产能产量分别达到196万只. China produces 2 million N95 masks daily a month ago, how about other countries? Why Germany dosen't provide those supplies to fellow EU nations like Italy and Spain and relies China to do so??

EU: China to supply Europe with face masks, coronavirus test kits

How much more effective is N95 than the regular masks though? Covid-19 is not aerosol right?

I don't question China's logistics and production capabilities. But without Germany exporting the advanced machinery, China wouldn't even be able to make those masks. So China's still quite behind in many areas of industry.

Are you crazy? China can build space stations but can't make masks? Why Germany didn't provide Italy and Spain with medical supplies and relies China to do so?

So what? China doesn't produce the advanced machinery that makes N95 masks, those are imported from Germany just like many advanced manufacturing technology. If ASML cut off exports to China tomorrow, China's chipmaking industry would come to a standstill. There are many areas where China's capabilities are severely lacking.

Those machines were made in China, even J-20 altered some production ines to make N95 masks, several engineers in Beijing used only one week changed several production lines to make N95 masks, now we make 2 million of them daily and send them over the world, how many N95 Germany makes everyday?

Every small factory in China can design and build N95 production lines, China has thousands of these factories.

What are you guys arguing about anyway lol. Is N95 mask that hi-tech? Even tiny Singapore can design and produce N95 masks.

That tower9 guy believes that's super high tech, more sophisticated than space station building and space walk. US TV has instruction tutorial to teach people to make N95 masks for US hospitals.

It is, if it is like 99% of respiratory illnesses, then not by much. I read that even N99 filter will largely be inefficient in daily wear, unless you are ready to wear it along a bunny suit, and full head cover NBC mask.

There are many viruses that can cause an illness with a single virus particle.

Regular mask will possibly reduce you chances of infection from direct contact with somebody's cough spray, but not much against aerosolised viruses from when it completely evaporates.

I think regular mask is still helpful in the protection against and the prevention of the spreading of large respiratory droplets, and also to minimize face touching with hands.

I'm wondering if a face shield is cost-efficient for the population at large?

Reusable, easy to wash and dry, easy to breathe, limits the spreading of huge respiratory droplets, protection against huge respiratory droplets, and limits the amount of face touching with your hands.

In the crisis everyone is the next. Germany produces for the domestic market, then for the other.
Dräger delivers 10,000 ventilators in the next days to German hospitals.
The mass production of a new Pcr quick test kit on coronavirus will test 200,000 people per day.

A new developed face mask from domestic production can be reused 50 times.
