Police officers in the US shoot and kill hundreds of people each year, according to the FBI's very limited data — far more than other developed countries like the UK, Japan, and Germany, where police officers might go an entire year without killing more than a dozen people or even anyone at all.

The Economist charted the differences in annual police shooting deaths in the US, UK, Japan, and Germany:

One explanation for this disparity is that violent crime is much more common in the US, putting police in more situations in which the use of force is necessary. As data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development shows, the US homicide rate throughout the 2000s was more than three times the rate of Canada, four times that of the UK, and more than 10 times that of Germany.

But why does the US have a much higher violent crime rate than other countries? One explanation: Americans are much more likely to own guns than their peers around the world. This means that conflicts — not just between police and civilians but between civilians — are much more likely to escalate into deadly, violent encounters. The research bears this out: More guns lead to more gun violence. And for police in particular, one studyfound that every 10 percent increase in firearm ownership correlated with 10 additional officers killed at the state level over a 15-year period.

According to survey data compiled by Simon Rogers for the Guardian, the US had 88.8 guns per 100 people in 2007 — compared with 54.8 in the second-closest country, Yemen. Reddit user Phillybdizzle mapped this data, showing just how much the US stands out in gun ownership compared with the rest of the world:

This is a result of cultural and policy decisions made by the US that have made firearms far more available in America than most of the world. For American police officers, this means they not only will encounter more guns, but they expect to encounter more guns, making them more likely to anticipate and perceive a threat and use deadly force as a result.

But deadly police encounters have drawn increased criticism over the past few years as cops have shot and killed unarmed or otherwise innocent black men and boys, highlighting the troubling racial disparities in how police use force. For critics of law enforcement, the disparities indicate that it's not just greater rates of gun ownership and violent crime that explain the higher number of police shootings in the US. Perhaps it's the lax legal standards that allow cops to justify deadly force against suspects who pose no danger, and sometimes are only perceived to pose a threat to officers because cops hold racial biases that are endemic in the criminal justice system.

. . . .
Yep, I haven’t been run over by a tank or sent to a re-education camp yet either. How about you?

BTW the percentages are typically 44% White, 22% Black, 20% Hispanic, and 14% “other”.
Wow, you should ask Obama's brother. So many Americans are here. There is always one person who can answer you.

Just because they are white people that doesn't automatically make them Americans.
Besides even if they all were the total number of Americans living in China doesn't even come close to the number of Chinese who flee to America in a single year. The total who have fled to the US is in the millions.

In 2015 you fled more than Mexicans:

In 1980 there were only 100,000 Chinese here who were born in China (vs born here).
In 2010 that number was 3.3 million!!!

in fact the list to get in is so long and people are so desperate they pay Mexican drug gangs to smuggle them in. If you are lucky they will...if you are unlucky you end up as another skeleton in a desert.

The border patrol keeps finding Chinese people crammed in car trunks. They also find lots of dead bodies along the fence. Chinese people are absolutely crazy trusting their lives to human smugglers. The number killed by smugglers may exceed our police shooting stats.

Are YOU the idiot? Of course there are Americans living in China. I just posted one.
All i said is posting a bunch of white people who were on Chinese TV doesn't make them Americans. They could all be Americans..but even if they were the number of Americans in China is TINY compared to the number of Chinese who have moved here permanently. It's not even close. It's thousands compared to MILLIONS and MILLIONS. Americans aren't fleeing in droves to China...it's the other way around..and it's ACCELERATING...you guys are at the 150,000/year mark!!! With 3.2 million since 1980. You guys even passed Mexico for immigrants to the US for crying out loud!! ( https://blogs.wsj.com/economics/201...xico-as-the-top-source-of-new-u-s-immigrants/ ) How WTF is that statistic!!! People are fleeing from China at a crazy pace. It's so obvious but you are too blind to see it.

You don't know about Pakistani Police, officer named Rao Anwar manages to kill 450 people alone in Karachi.

Well I guess the next question is do people simply “disappear off the streets like this
“Thousands disappear as China polices thought”

Not too bad. In China, as long as you do not offend the law, you are absolutely safe. This is different from the US

Police officer who shot man crawling and crying on the floor cleared of murder

btw,Are you white people or black people?
