Its a suggestion by a Congressman, nothing more then that. Senator McCain said one thing in Afghanistan, another in Pakistan (praised Pakistan) and did total 180 when returned to US.

PS: As for Chickens, isn't there a acute shortage of them in Pakistan ? or is it Controlled Supply and Demand to inflate prices ?

Whether the US can be trusted or not (Trump certainly can't given his flipflopping on everything), this statement FINALLY gets around to addressing the problems bedevilling the US-Pakistan relationship, especially with respect to Afghanistan.

A long term FTA would have had strategic significance beyond the impact on actual trade numbers (which might not be significant given Pakistan's relatively narrow industrial base), in that it would have signaled a long term commitment from the US to Pakistan.

These are the kinds of policy proposals that Pakistanis had argued in favor of, and the US should have engaged in, after the US invasion of Afghanistan. These kinds of measures (increased trade, student visas, academic ties etc) should have been used as building blocks for a strategic relationship with Pakistan that would have assuaged Pakistani concerns over US intentions and a potential 'strategic offset' to the loss of influence in Afghanistan.

Sadly the US foreign establishment was either incompetent or genuinely thought it could play Pakistan and 'have its cake and eat it too'.

FTA with Pakistan is a win win situation for any First, Second or Third World Country, there is no fear of Pakistan exporting anything to any country except some rice or textiles. A country must produce something worth mentioning before getting into free trades. So far expats send Dollars and Pakistan Imports.

Remember, US has tried every trick in the book to trap Pakistan; hell it even tried to break Pakistan via the proxy war in FATA. Remember the daily drone strikes in Pakistan? With all due respect, you guys have a terrible memory and you have conveniently forgotten the sacrifices made by the ordinary people of this country and the military of this country. Why the fuc,k would you sign an FTA with US which can be torn anytime by the US? Finally Pakistan is in the driver seat and has plenty of options. It can sign an FTA with the US on its OWN TERMS not on the terms of the US. It can also simply ask China to better the FTA it has with China or it will walk away. Have better economic relations with Russia, Central Asia, Middle East, Turkey and the list goes on.

They might come with military package not right away but after IK meeting with Trump but I feel something good is coming.they won't let slip pakistan into China and Russia sphere military wise they will offer some that theior influence remain on our institutions.

Mingle, in all honesty it is too late for the US to do anything since the Geopolitical interests of Pakistan are aligned with those of China, Russia, Iran and even Turkey. India is the only looser left out as it supported the US. We need to understand one thing very clearly - US wants Pakistan to fight the coming wars in A-stan and Central Asia. Do we really want Pakistan to turn into a hired gun again for the sake of weapons??

Please keep in mind that USA buys far more than it sells to Pakistan; it is China that dumps a lot while buying little.

Actually we hardly import anything from the US other than defense items which is why trade surplus is in Pakistan's favor and more so since China and US are engaged in a trade war. One benefit of ruppee losing value to dollar is that Pakistan's exports can get a huge push.
