What I am saying is that Russia kept a complete mum, when US was unilaterally acting against Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. But, in case of Syria, it put its foot down and started openly helping Bashar al Asad in controlling the unrest. Similarly, now it has started playing a front foot proactive role in Afghanistan. This is the change, to which I am alluding to.

True there are Russian interests at play in keeping Assad in power and in Syria in general.

But there are no Russian interests in protecting Iran.

Infact, I would go as far as to say Russia has a back door to Israel and is for whatever reason sensitive to Israeli interests.

Either way Iran is screwed.

Russia is NO friend of Iran.

And China couldn't care less unless there is significant financial benefit.

Also the Gulf Arabs are being effectively utilized by Israel to balance Iran.

One of which is financial engagement with the Russians and Chinese to offset any temptations to deal with Iran.

Just some observations.

Again, Iran is screwed.

What i understand is, they would not allow any Muslim country to get strong enough to defend itself (against US in case of conflict) or have any kind of deterrence against USA.

There is natural alliance of Muslim countries not because of only being "Ummah" but because others see you as Ummah... If you are an Asian.... does't matter what you think of yourself... you are an Asian...

Worry about the crumbling infrastructure and national debt in the US.

Not to mention weak leadership.

This is the thing, which in my view provides space to a country like Iran or Pakistan to play around and find their nich. I think that even in recent past, both China and Russia have played some significant role in keeping Iran afloat. The problem of Iran is that it is always over extending itself. Still I am hopeful that Iran would not be subject to any disastrous action.
