13 years ago america came into Afghanistan with a bang with news all over the place , today as they silently retreat , its almost like going out with a whimper as no media outlet is giving it coverage

What do you think ?

. . .
If the majority of the population isn't supporting things...there is no win unless we want to run a police state perpetually...which is not what we want to do.

What else can be done. We leave and back to chaos until some dictator takes over.

.
What else you folks want America to achieve?

They proved their military superiority....actually their military 'hyperiority' (super-iority is to little to describe American military might)...

They killed bin laden.

They stopped fanatic retards from attacking American mainland ever again after 9/11...

Now what?

They toppled Taliban government..set up a new setup..led transition of power from Karzai to other Afghan leaders.

Soooo..why should they remain here?

America's only possible rival in next century is China..so America should focus there instead of getting entangled in Islamic countries across continents...

How do you measure Success or to some extend, failure? In a war?

From a long time ago, war does not just serve a single objective, thats why we have strategic and tactical objective in any giving war

So when you look at a certain aspect, yeah, while it is true that something seems dont change and its look a lot like a failure.

Indeed the afghanistan government is still weak even after 14 years of occupation, but thats the afghanistani own provision isnt it. No matter how hard American tried, there are no way they can protect and strengthen a country beside telling them what to do and helping them on the way, but when it come to the end of a day. you still need that country (afghanistan) to take initiative to take charge on their own country simply unless US wants to annex afghanistan and l them as in their 51st state, they are the people for their government, not the American.

In the end of the day, this war belong to another category, thats "Have to do" category.

Now ask yourselves this did afghanistan and pakistan better off living with Taliban controlling afghanistan? If you answer is no then, the US war in afghanistan would be a.success. Cos someone need to make initative, in this case the US does it

You just talked over the heads of most here, buddy.

. .
a war that cost the american public/taxpayer more than 1 Trillion US$ and the US admins of Bush and Obama sank 100 billion US$ in direct aid to Afghanistan, only to see that the Taliban have not been eliminated, a huge question mark remains on the ability of the ANA to fight the Taliban all by itself. the NGO's and expats who had a ripping time the last 13 years are fleeing the country as the western armies leave the country......what the future holds is anybody's guess.....

War was lost at Dasht-e-Lilli massacre by US Special Forces and their Northern Alliance allies.

[sarcasm]

You need to be schooled. Pakistan was the only reason why USA emerged as super power after pakistan broke USSR into pieces and now it is pakistan which has determined the course of world history by being a part of USA's downfall

True. The Afghan war is in no way a total loss. US had put in a working govt, which has gone through elections twice and now it's upto the Afghans to choose the way they want to live.

USA is a looser...
You are correct. So who wants to challenge this loser ?
