As Per Sources close to idrw.org , final design of AMCA based on Staff requirements (ASR) issued by Indian Air Force in 2010 , might be ready by end of 2012 or early 2013 and will be send to Indian air force , Development time for the first AMCA TD aircraft will take 5 and more years ,since ASR issued by Indian Air Force changed the definition of “Near Stealth aircraft” to “Stealth aircraft” , which means further research has to be carried out in Reducing Exhaust temperature and also work on reducing infrared signature .

Research work done on MCA , cannot fully be carried out in AMCA , since lot of changes has been sorted in ASR issued by IAF .ASR of IAF also means that a new engine for a 5th generation fighter aircraft has to be developed ,and Joint venture on Kaveri engine will have to incorporate new technology which are yet to be developed or discussed ,instead of just mating of Eco of M-88-3 engine with Kaveri which was the plan earlier , will just not do as per sources and soon joint meeting with French will be held soon on development of new engine to power a Stealthy 5th generation aircraft .

only after rounds of meetings with french , DRDO will take a call on engines , sources also mention DRDO might also consider other options . Many of the Research done for MCA (Low observable aircraft), might be carried out in Tejas MK-3 , but ADA major concentration is to make sure Tejas MK-2 is ready in time , which will decide the fate of Tejas Mk-3 .

DRDO has been aiming 2018-20 period for the first flight of AMCA , but with lot of Research and Development yet to began , and stiffer ASR issued by IAF , means they might be delays and AMCA also has to go through same process has LCA , first two aircraft’s will be TD and then Prototypes and only if IAF is happy with the project and project is able to achieve all the technological requirements only then it might go for Production .

Even in Avionics front lot of technologies like AESA Radar or Infra-red search and track (IRST) system and appropriate electronic warfare systems are to be developed . DRDO currently is working on Design optimization of AMCA to cover Stealth aspects laid out in ASR of IAF .

. .
What about ballistic missile launch capability, arch reactor based propulsion in the ASR of IAF?? There should be a specisl screening of Avengers and g i joe for IAF becasue they are not up-to-date when it comes to technology.

.
Considering the tejas is not operational yet, and will have a GE engine, I do not have high hopes for this project.

.
Regarding the engine- the MMRCA outcome should put the IAF/DRDO in a powerful argining position.

.
I dont think AMCA will be completely stealth cuz we know what DRDO did on Tejas project so I don't tink this wet dream will happeen

Do you even realise that Tejas and AMCA are completely different projects?

But then again, I am arguing with one of the guys who think JF-17 can kill that starships. On a positive note, we are atleast capable of getting a wet dream! :bunny:

. .
AMCA is even more ambitious than LCA. DRDO usually aims too high and then lowers the aim as it gets near deadline, and then extends the deadline and takes its own time. I'm not judging, this is simply how it has been. Even if the first prototype is ready by 2020, it will still be years of flight testing ..and then the various clearances and then the induction. All in all, I dont expect this project to materialize before 2025 without changes in DRDO and help from friendly nations.

Hey, there's no need to pour more fuel to a flame.. try pouring water instead.

AMCA dead line is so long. well as missiles are not available in weapon market we made indigenously and those monsters are deadly s**y. as planes are available its could be believed the project shall not be give more weightage by the weapon purchaser defence departments. It is believed that the DRDO might be stopped or not fully supported by the defence department and MOD. they have their own benefits in foreign weapons. many hue and cry on the ARJUN TANK and then (as per one post by one member) that the militery person add the dust in fuel tank and hence arjun could not performed well. how suddenly Arjun be the successful. it was posted that responsible have punished but need to punish them a death. cause they are playing with the lives and country. that punishment could only be solution. After the Rafale the plane might got speed. need to add other country in it to get speedy success......

you sound quite stupid here, just like those ch*tiya IAF-wallah's.

Its not DRDO who is "writing" over-ambitious unrealistic ASR to kill the AMCA project. Its the IAF(imported air force).

Also, IAF is sitting on AMCA's ASR since 6 years now, because its officers are "technically" incapable, to visualize technological profiles of upcoming modern decades. They are confused as usual and even refusing to admit their LCA blunder. And now they are delaying AMCA's design forever. God knows when IAF will make up its mind.

Why are people comparing LCA Tejas with AMCA ????
Yes Tejas is delayed and has many problems. But we have learned from them and also consider that Tejas was also delayed because of sactions imposed on India in the late 90s.

I don't understand why we love to hate DRDO, HAL, etc. & also question the indigenous capability of these organisations. I don't understand how one can call LCA delayed specially in the Indian context, yes the program got approval in 1984 but the budgetary support for it came only in 1990s, apart from that there were many problems encountered in the program since before this HAL had made only Marut aircraft which was of 2nd gen., to jump from 2nd gen tech to 4th gen tech is no easy a job & add to that consistent changes in the requirements of the IAF (don't know what they were thinking may be expecting F-22 like plane from HAL) & sanctions by US post-1998. So it has been around 20 years since the actual development began & we have a comparable jet to f-16 (saab gripen also took 20 years since development began), it's mass production could lower the cost easily & we have a plane to export to world market. It is one of the best 4th gen plane & with further improvement we will get a world class plane for IAF.

Also, To compare LCA to AMCA (negatively) is like saying we can never win next match because we lost the earlier one, i am of the opinion that HAL & ADA have gained tremendous experience by the development of LCA tejas & as soon as the IAF approves the final design may be the AMCA can go to production in about 10-12 years time. India can go for joint development with another nation (say France) to speed up the timeline of the AMCA project.

you sound stupid too, just like other "I hate LCA" congressi media brigade.

Just compare the timelines of 4th generation aircraft projects around the world. TEJAS team and DRDO has actually done a better job in terms of "timeline", than even europeans and americans, with the kind of funds and lack of technical support(Even Gripen had european support).

First get your facts, then open your mouth.

True.

also, let me add that the ch*tiya Mulayam singh almost killed LCA project by closing down its funding for 2 years but the engineers behind LCA team decided to stay put and keep the work going "without" any support from MoD, who had given up their hands on it during 1990's. Had this been private sector project, those engineers would have left to USA already.

Fools have a habit of talking against people behind LCA, without getting any facts on matter.

Anybody want to hear my stealth criticisms of the pictured AMCA shown in post #1?

There are some glaring stealth design problems. I won't bother to discuss it if everyone feels it's a preliminary design or no one cares about the issue.
