Is this true????
Nope.. misquoted and misinterpreted.. as usual in most copy paste sources.
Also.. what you have quoted is somebody's combination of sections of both Quran and Hadiath(word of prophet)
First.. this section has been taken from Surah(chapter) Taubah..and its verse number 29.
This Surah was revealed when the Prophet had ordered an expedition to engage the Byzantine empire... So this Ayah was revealed with the condition of ongoing war(against non-Muslims, emphasis on the people of the book Christians/jews) in mind and is a guideline what to do in that situation.
while you may not be able to read the Arabic.. I am uploading this to show you what and where I am basing my argument on.
The verse approx reads
"
Qatiloo allatheena la yu/minoona biAllahi wala bialyawmi al-akhiri wala yuharrimoona ma harrama Allahu warasooluhu wala yadeenoona deena alhaqqi mina allatheena ootoo alkitaba hatta yuAAtoo aljizyata AAan yadin wahum saghiroona"
A translation of this is
"(O muslims) fight against those that do not believe in god or the day of judgement, and those that do not consider forbidden what god and his prophet have forbidden.(fight against) Those that do not accept the true religion or embrace it from the people of the book(Christians and Jews) ; until they agree to pay Jizya and surrender and submit to the Muslims"
The first confusion is what is Jizyah..
Jizyah is not a "protection money" or tax specific to Dhimmis(non-Muslims) as wrongly interpreted.
Jizyah is war-tax. .. war-bonds.. etc
It is applicable to both Muslims and Non-Muslims alike in an Islamic state
WHEN THE STATE GOES TO WAR...
NOT OTHERWISE
You may collect Jizyah by calling it war-bonds.. war-fund contribution whatever.
But in the simplest of terms.. it is the tax all those who do not fight in the armed forces pay to fund the armed forces during the time of war.. simple. Not a new concept.. nothing alien.. nothing that is not practised today as well under different names by different nations.
so for eg.. if a Non-Muslim in an Islamic state in peace is making a living and contributing to the Bait-ul-Maal(government treasury) through tax .. or even not.. there is NO Jizyah on them(although currently in all Islamic countries there is tax on all citizens of which a portion goes to the military).
But in a state of conflict..
if that a non-muslim is not participating in the war(by choice or not recruited) then they are required to pay the war-fund(Jizyah) along with all other non-combatant citizens of the state(Muslim & non-Muslim)
Now, as for the "humiliation and disgrace etc" part.. As I have said earlier.. this verse war revealed during the time of war against non-Muslims(specifically Christians(Byzantine empire)). Now going by the history of all wars.. the defeated side is almost always disgraced and humiliated .. and this is not something to be hurled as accusation against the Prophet.
After all.. was it not that when 90000 troops surrendered to the Indian Armed forces that Pakistanis were humiliated and disgraced.
Was it not when India was forced into a setback in 62 against China that it felt humiliated and disgraced?
Was it not when Germany lost WWI that it felt humiliated and disgraced.
I see no logic in that angry face for that.. or finding fault in Islam because of that.
the logic of using this verse to desecrate, mutilate a body is absolutely IDIOTIC...
At no point did the Prophet EVER encourage such to occur...
If any Muslim engages in desecrating or mutilation a body(
provided similar mutilation of Muslims ha occurred at the hands of the enemy) it is by his own need for revenge and not by either divine revelation or the example of the prophet. Moreover, it is encouraged through a revealed verse
"Wa-in AAaqabtum faAAaqiboo bimithli ma AAooqibtum bihi wala-in sabartum lahuwa khayrun lilssabireena"
translated as
"
If ye punish, then punish with the like of that wherewith ye were afflicted. But if ye endure patiently, verily it is better for the patient."
This verse was revealed at the Battle of Uhud.. after Muslims found many of their martyred mutilated by Non-Muslims.. and many were understandably furious and wanted to do the same to the Non-Muslim dead. That is the extent of the word on revenge(mutilation, attacks) in the Quran.
there are many copy paste sources for Islam on the internet which are entirely wrong and incorrect.. that mislead both Muslims and those curious about Islam.
