Almost Half of India’s Top 100 Apps Are Chinese

Chinese companies developed 44 of India’s top 100 Android apps in December, up from just 18 in the same period a year earlier, Indian tech publication FactorDaily reports.

Topping the list is TikTok, a short-video sharing app developed by Beijing-based ByteDance Technology Co. Ltd. Others popular apps include UC Browser, owned by Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.; news aggregator NewsDog, backed by Tencent Holdings Ltd.; and livestreaming app LiveMe, FactorDaily said, citing figures from California-based data provider Sensor Tower.

Analysts say the current success of Chinese app-makers may not continue forever — one of the biggest hurdles to long-term success is localization. (Caixin)

Great win-win for both nations.

Localization is very important for sustainable growth in market share.

LOL... These Chinese companies spend heavily to ensure that these apps come pre-installed with most phone brands. Most of us just remove around 6 to 15 of these crappy apps after buying a phone, less tech savvy once just ignore them, but these get counted as installs anyway.

Some apps are used by people. There is no shame in that, if its good. But however pointed out by him, its true. Most apps come pre-installed on Chinese phones. Others like Wechat, Tiktok etc are really good to be used by people.

. . . .
India is #1IT power based on its call centers and tech support.
That is why in America, they are known as tech support Indians

I can never understand their English,
but native English speakers can,
that's ridiculous!

Browsers, a host of so called security and cleaner apps, newsdog and similar others, weather apps, chat apps....bloatware are a headache, especially if these are uninstallable.

Especially those dubious security and cleaner apps are all malwares. And one more thing I have noticed, if you have one of these apps, they manage to push four other apps inadvertently through it.
