Alliance between US,India,Japan,Australia?

3) Australia-- a liability without US blessings and has a Sinophile of a PM.

What do you mean liability? We are nothing of the sort.

Also our pm isn't a sinophile.

Next time you decide to post crap, think again.

This article is a joke right? Australians? What good are they other than ganging up and beating Indians for "curry bashing". I'd prefer a fair competition between India and China in any field be it economics, industry, military or politics than side with a bunch of racist losers who cannot digest the fact that world is full of diverse people.

Your post is a joke right?

Don't come onto these forums and post the lies and the dribble the indian media spreads.

Economic muscle already exists significantly; it is the political muscle that is lacking here. About Australia, I couldn't agree more. If there was something called a fictitious scenario, we might have to end up saving Australia's neck from PLAN's wrath (humor intended ).

More crap from you. Geeze, this is 3 in a row, you are on a roll.

The Australian Defence Force could easily beat the PLAN in a defensive situation. It's why our military is called a "Defence force" We have constant exercises with the whole point of defending the Australian mainland against external naval attack.

Anyway, China would never attack us, we are good friends with China. The Chinese see the opportunity in having a good relationship with us, unlike the Indians who try to demand things from us and then get angry when we refuse their silly demands.

In which case there isn't much point to having you guys in any alliance(imagined or real), is there?

Why cant all of us live in peace and prosper?

give kashmiris right of self determination = no darm problem with Pakistan will remain?

International relationships are not zero sum games.

The only 'sum' that matters is self-interest. Leaving aside the diplomatic niceties and looking at the hard facts of militarization, India and the West share a common perceived enemy in China.

(Oh please don't bring up the $60 billion in mutual trade -- that trade is mostly in China's favor and is a drop in the bucket for China, i.e. a non-factor.)

There are three senior Chinese members here who are active nowadays. Myself, Cardsharp and below_freezing.

You have called TWO (out of THREE) of us "Indian apologists".

By your own reckoning, it looks quite bad for you.

Out of the many Chinese posters, there are two Indian apologists active, yes.

Australia will never go to war with China for India's sake. Maybe for America's sake, but not for India.

Never. Gonna. Happen.

Yes, and China's primary interest right now is economic development.

That number will continue to grow, as the economies of both China and India expand.

Yes, and China's primary interest right now is economic development.

The issue here is not China's self-interest, but that of the so-called alliance being proposed in this thread.

Leaving aside stand-alone issues like climate change, the long term strategic and geopolitical self-interests of India and the West share a common enemy: China.

Both India and China are smart enough not to state the obvious, but their military procurements speak loudly enough.

Even self-interest is not a zero sum game…oh you sound like infamous Bush: Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.

India perceive China to a be a competitor, while west perceive China be an adversary; there lies the difference…India and China compete for resources, investment and developments and markets, while west has different reasons to be on the other side China.

As regarding the trade, Net present value of a trade is calculated based on future cash flows and I see a lot of potential between India and China.

As regarding the Balance of Payment between China and India, I feel more than the trade imbalance the quantity of trade and growth rate are more important, also more imports by India also implies more consumerism by the Indian population and a good sign of strength of Indian economy

In a world of scarce resources, today's competitor is tomorrow's adversary. There is no real difference between the West and India when it comes to containing China's rise.

Economic rivalry is not same as Military rivalry. If going by the logic of scarce resources, then everyone is a adversary of other...but there is cooperation that differentiates Economic rivalry from Military rivalry
