Beijing, Aug 31 (IANS) Extra-terrestrial beings do exist but they have not yet come to visit our planet, and the best way to communicate with aliens is to send radio signals, a top Chinese official said Tuesday.

Zhu Jin, curator of the Beijing Planetarium, said aliens are likely to be present on some planets. Since there are about one trillion planets going around fixed stars, the possibility of the earth being the only planet with living creatures was 'too slim to be true', China Daily reported.

But as to reports of sighting of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), Zhu said they cannot be true.

Some UFOs were proved to be planes, kites or other normal objects, and many weird situations can be re-demonstrated and re-created, he said.

Zhu said the distance the Voyager 1 spacecraft has travelled in the past 33 years only accounts for one-thousandth of the solar system's reach. It will take 10,000 years for human beings to visit planets outside the solar system.

So, if aliens living in a faraway planet have a similar level of intelligence as human beings, it was impossible for them to travel to earth, he said.

If intelligent life on Alien planets started a million years before it did on Earth, then that's a significant lead they'd have on us to discover ways of quicker interstellar travel.

The best possible evidence of Alien visitation I've seen are from NASA's own videos captured in space from infrared cameras.

Of course there are explanations out there, like debris causing the lens to go out of focus and a freak lens effect causing the appearance of disk shaped objects. I'm still a little uncertain about how these objects would appear to be behind the tether if they were debris in front of the lens. So just keep an open mind.

If intelligent life on Alien planets started a million years before it did on Earth, then that's a significant lead they'd have on us to discover ways of quicker interstellar travel.

What if the aliens didn't have a quicker (FTL) interstellar travel method but just lived a lot longer than us humans?

I do not sorta agree with two above stated points.

1) Radio waves may be good way to communicate, but they are by no means great. The nearest star to earth is 4.5 light years away, which means it would take electromagnetic radiation (radio waves) 4.5 years just to reach the nearest star. Our galaxy is 100000 light years in diameter, so it would take 100,000 years till the radio waves reach throughout our galaxy, and I fear by then they would have dissipated enough to not be detectable.

But, he is right in the sense that right now, radio waves are the fastest, easiest and most viable way.

2) And I think that it wouldn't take 10000 years to reach another planet. The closest planet to earth outside solar system is 10 light years away, and even if humans can travel at 1% speed of light, it will take 1000 years to reach there.

And seeing how technology is improving exponentially, we may reach that stage even quicker and be able to travel faster.
