What makes a good lie , cover it with a lot of truths and half truths.

The researchers are increasing the impact factor and marketability of there research with such antics ,
secure funding , gain repute for all the years of shoveling filth? Reasons could be anything.
But such conclusions are usually fall in the category of plausible deniability, pay heed to the wordings.
