For gas tube scrub with wire brush and clean with Hopps elite cleaning solution, repeat the cycle untill you get all the rust out. Try to space out cleaning across few day's as during cleaning some of the rust might not be clearly visible.

For barrel lug corners use 90-140 grit sand paper crease or a dremel with light hand. once the rust is gone smother with hopps gun grease.

Use dremel to remove rust from the hand guard and lower hand guard, If possible on exterior metal surfaces use cold blue or coat with Hopps gun grease.

Another option would be to duracoat all external metal surfaces. The images are quite small so cant judge the extent of the rust but a barrel change will be highly recommended. Hopefully boltcarier and receiver should be in good condition. .

AK cleaning manual for retards.....
1-Take your shoe lace
2-Soak it in oil
3-Put it at one end of barrel
4-Swipe the shoe lace through
5-Voila!

If you do not find hopps cleaning agent, Use Isopropyl alcohol, that works, if you do not get Hopps gun grease, try to get high temp industrial grease for all areas near the barrel.

A friendly advice is do not use the rifle if you see excessive rust around the barrel. Barrel failures can result in extreme physical injury.
