n July, 2018, The Royal Air Force of Great Britain was celebrating its 100 years since it was first raised. (#RAF100).
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. We were to witness more than 100 Air Forces around the world on Britains soil to pay homage to RAFs long heritage and to pariticipate in worlds largest Air Show, the Royal International Air Tatoo which was held at RAF base Fairford from july 13th to 15th.
On 9th July, celebrations kicked off with Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II inspecting the Guard of honor of Royal Air Force at Buckingham Palace with dignitaries and the rest of the royal family (was unable to locate Princess Charlotte though).
National Anthem was beautifully played followed by a majestic fly past of RAF fighter jets including the F-35 Lightening IIs, Battle of Britain memorial flypast, A400's, A330 MRTT's, Red Arrow's. The ceremony was concluded with dozens of Eurofighter Typhoon combat jets in a formation displaying *100* in the skies of London. A truly proud moment for the British people. Royal International Air Tatoo - RAF 100 Special
13th July- I travel to RAF base, Fairford in Gloucestershire from London. It was 2 and a half hour drive. Upon reaching, i witnessed RAFs Red Arrows Aerobatic team buzzing over my head as I got out of the car with a head snapping acceleration. And later making a heart shaped trail in the sky.
More than 25 jets of different Air Forces displayed their skills in the skies. Some 100 aircraft were parked at the air field for people to see. Had opportunity to meet our own, the contingent of Pakistan Air force from No. 6 squadron with their beautifully painted C-130E.
And that is me.
