AGRA: A day after an audio clipping of a conversation between the relative of a rape survivor and a group of unidentified men in which they are purportedly heard conspiring to frame Etmadpur BJP MLA Rampratap Singh Chauhan in a rape case to extort money went viral, police on Wednesday registered an FIR against the Agra city president of AIMIM and others under stringent sections of IPC, including sedition.
The FIR was lodged by BJP worker Raj Kumar at Itimadud-daula police station against AIMIM’s Mohammad Idrish, Raes and other unknown men.
In his FIR, a copy of which is with TOI, Kumar has alleged Idrish and his men were trying to disturb the communal harmony in the city and the state.
In the audio, the authenticity of which is yet to be verified, the group of men can be heard making a plan to put up posters of the MLA in the city and incite public sentiments against the state government.
“An FIR has been registered against the two AIMIM leaders and others under IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 384 (extortion), 124A (sedition), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
We are investigating the matter and the accused will be arrested soon,” Itimad-ud-daula police station in-charge Kamlesh Kumar Singh told TOI.
Responding to the allegations against him, AIMIM city president Idrish said, “There was a complaint of rape against the MLA and I met the survivor’s family. These allegations are politically motivated.” BJP MLA Chauhan said, “I had no involvement in the rape case. They had forced the girl to give false statement to police.”
