Btw thanks for acknowledging this reality. Most Indians go on a denialist tangent the moment they are faced with this reality. Reality that we muslims of Indian occupied regions were born to support Pakistan. Your post made me smile, general tendency of the locals is Muslim and Islam is considered outsiders and outside influence alien to the land...same goes for other abrahamic faiths. U could be right people I know r usually educated class have future in front of them so they don't follow this kind of extremism crap, but my sister used to work with Juvenile kids and man those kids are crazy from religious crap to all kinds of crimes (they are usually Bangladeshi immigrants ) I'm sure these guys will be the one answering the call of extremists.

We live in Mattan even today. My family is there now as well. I have to roam all over India because there is little source of employment or higher education in the Valley. Or even the State.

I am not only talking about Muslim extremism. Islam is extreme. Muslims vary. But I have seen Hindus getting extreme as well. You know how extreme when I use the term 'Hindu' and 'extreme'. That they are the balancing force in many areas is another matter altogether.

I believe the non Muslims and liberal Muslim population is ignorant of what the Muslims truly want.

90% Muslims don't follow Islam strictly.
80% want to interact as less as possible with the non Muslims. But still find many things in common with other Indians and live peacefully.
The rest - PROBLEM. And this is increasing.

I, when I was in Bangalore in a job, used to go out in Frazer town along with friends on weekends. Just an Afghani kurta, some kohl and a fez cap - and I looked more Muslim than a regular passerby.

I know it was immoral, even unethical. But the insights you get is invaluable. It is difficult to do this.

I know the Kalima, have a trimmed beard, can read Urdu, have real Muslim friends (who are atheists), have no qualms in entering mosques etc.

But now am in Mumbai, back to grad studies.

A change in look makes certain people strangely honest when you strike up conversations. Play a hand in cricket with street urchins in a mohalla near some Jumma masjid and then take them out for a treat of snacks and chai etc. The things these tired and happy young late teens say is absolutely a gold mine.

There have been efforts like these before. But they search for a hatred of India. I will admit. That is negligible. They DON'T HATE INDIA. The hate is reserved for Hindus. Not India. Shocking? But true. I know it is ironical.

This insight gives me the confidence to speak openly about these matters. Which is why we have survived in the Valley. Why I can mix with a Muslim crowd of desi origin with ease. I grew up amongst them. It comes naturally. The ins and outs - the deepest secrets, the strengths, the weaknesses.

Irrespective of what many Pakistani friends here think Hindu extremism is purely political mostly.Don't take me wrong we have anger a lot of it but i've never seen people loosing it over most issues. So I doubt we'll see any extreme measures from our sides not without coordination with political parties.

I was the only Hindu guy in school. I was caled a l*** pujari. I took it as a joke and found it offensive much much later in life. Then again in college (in Bengal) there was only 1 Muslim girl in class and she was as good as a Hindu.
Now I am back in college and this Muslim guy from Bihar and I go out to drink. It's difficult to reconcile the experiences. I am still searching for the answers.

I'll take your word for it no one will keep on repeating same thing again and again without such experience like u do so I'm sure it must be some thing scary. And no can't do it in Delhi people here are different (so many Bangladeshis u know and almost all of them are associated with crimes.)

When I was in hostel we used to chat with 3 Muslim guys at first they were like no we're cool with everything but as soon as my Jaat buddies(it was in Haryana) used to leave the room and I get on their nerves , Their whole mindset changes all of sudden u'll hear about how strong they are , superior and holier people but it stops there only . BTW do go to mosque o friday (or thursday) and hear what they have to say about Polytheists.

Don't worry about it things have changed we value our freedom more than anything and will fight back if anyone becomes a threat to it (be it a religious belief , a country or a person.)
