Agni-II prime to be test-fired again on August 29 - Express India
.
.
Bhubaneswar After the unsuccessful maiden
test-firing of of Agni-II prime, a nuclear-capable
surface-to-surface missile with a strike range of
2,500 km to 3,000 km in December last year,
DRDO is planning to test the missile once again
on August 29.

DRDO sources said the test-firing would be done
from Wheeler's Island in Bay of Bengal.
On December 10, the maiden test-firing of the
missi;e ended in a massive failure after the missile
dropped off into the sea a few seconds after it
was launched from Wheeler Island. The Agni-II
prime, a modified version of Agni-II, is an
intermediary between Agni-II and Agni-III. It has
two stages and both are powered by solid
propellants.
DRDO officials said they hoped that the test-firing
would add teeth to India's nuclear deterrence. The
Agni-II prime or A-2, manufactured by DRDO’s
Advanced System Laboratory (ASL) in
Hyderabad, has a longer range and higher
performance with respect to the thrust and
weight ratio than Agni-II missile. The new missile
was expected to perform better at various levels
in terms of accuracy, strength and distance
covered in comparison to Agni-II.
Agni II prime can carry extra fuel and will have a
new motor in its re-entry vehicle for better
manoeuvrability, a flex nozzle in the second stage
to avoid anti-ballistic missile defences and an
improved navigation system. New technologies
introduced into the missile to make it lighter have
also provided it with greater. thrust.

it is an advanced missile complete composite stage.

All the best. First test failed but it will be success for sure.

best of luck maroooo ehhehehehhe

All the country's missiles are 'best of luck'. So many Russian and US missiles failed in last few years. hehehe

very few countries have such missiles.

agni-2 is not new yaar its tested before .11 April 1999 was first test of agni-2 and in 2011 august its still new missile?hehehehhe

thats mean its ager is 1050 years :P

sirjee i am talking about agni-2 prime a complete new missile, not improved version of agni-2.

hmmmm thanks dear so it was agni-2 prime that was failed last time not agni-2 ok ok no problem this time fire it hope its reson behind last failure fixed and this time work well.

It work for sure as it have been more robust, see the complete second stage made up of carbon filament-wound composite, flexible nozzle, improved fibre optic gyro based navigation system and new more maneuverable reentry vehicle etc.

failure is pillar of success. all missiles all over the world failed atleast once! So it is common. :)

Good for DRDO. I hope MOD and GOI gives green signal for the induction of Shaurya missile also. Its a really great missile.

I think shaurya needs 1 or 2 more successful tests before it matures for induction. Having said that, I think the success of A2 Prime will not only fill the gap thereby giving more teeth to our strategic posturing but will also supplement the credibility of Agni 3 also.

I accept that A3 have been a success but when a watered down version is failing , will reflect poorly on it's credibility. Lets hope for the best.

ps. To laughing_soldier : I would really like to know why you got banned.
