COIN is a time-consuming game. The US fails to learn that, which is why their COIN campaigns remain unsuccessful. You have to wait it out, like a stare down. The question is not if the time is available or not but whether we can MAKE the time. Our military successes in the present will secure our ideological victory in the long run. The physical space has been recovered, now the politicos and time will reclaim the social space.

Making or being given the time is pretty much the same.

You are correct that COIN operations take a scale of time that is quite alien to US military philosophy, a lesson that USA would do well to learn.

I assure you, there won't be a problem. I can understand your vibes but need to be very sure of where you are coming from in order to present a valid and accurate counter-argument.

With you Sir, there has never been a problem, but I think I will take a pass on this one, given that many others will not be inclined to be so kind.

To some extent yes, FATA is a Special Administrative Region and can be considered a satellite of Pakistan, rather than a part of it.

This is an extreme example - my views.
