After S400, Russia To Supply Deadly Air Missile System To India
By Kolkata24x7 News desk - November 3, 2016021

New Delhi: Long before a deal for the supply of S-400 Air Defence System was concluded between Russia and India , Russian officials on sidelines of Defexpo 2016 held in Goa earlier this year had confirmed to author that Russia has offered to supply Buk-M2E air defence missile system to India.

Officials of Almaz-Antey had confirmed that upgraded Buk-M3 with 70 km range, which is 20kms more range than its predecessor was offered to India to work in tandem with S-400 long-range Air Defence System. Buk-M2 first developed in 1988, only entered serial production after 15 years is considered one of the finest weapons in its class.

Buk-M2E is multi-channel, multifunctional, highly mobile medium-range air defence missile system (ADMS) which is designed to engage tactical and strategic aviation aircraft, cruise missiles.helicopters . Buk-M2E is capable of working independently or as a part of air defence formation under Air defence brigade automated command and control system along with S-400 systems or with Tor-M1.

When asked about how it is different from Indo-Israeli developed LR-SAM Air Defence System, Almaz-Antey officials claimed that ADMS provides highly effective air defence for troops on the move in any conditions and can provide 24 hours ,all weather around the clock operation. while it can continuously provide high mobility and comes with excellent cross-country capabilities.

70 km ranged upgraded Buk-M3 can also be used for guarding administrative and industrial installations and was in the news when Buk-M2E was used to bring down Malaysia Airlines MH17 near the town of Grabovo, in the Donetsk Region in eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 passengers and crew on-board. Buk battalion comes with one command vehicle, a target acquisition radar (TAR) vehicle, six transporter erector launcher and radar (TELAR) vehicles and three transporter erector launcher (TEL) vehicles.

Each TEL vehicle is a tracked chassis that carries one row of four ready-to-fire missiles in launch tubes, connected to a turntable style launcher assembly mounted on the rear of the vehicle. Each vehicle also has its own phased-array radar mounted on the turntable assembly. As for the missiles, each one weighs 710kg and measures 5.5m in length, with an explosive load of 180kg.

The more money you spend on foreign weapons, the less you can spend on your own industries. Not a happy news if I were an Indian.

We are still at nascent stages in terms of indigenization. For the time being, it's best to procure world class systems from outside.

Money hai to Honey hai !

You have lots of smart engineers working for foreign companies, and you have lot of money spend on foreign weapons. I just don't understand what prevents India from putting two things together to make your own military industries.

Every thing takes time. India is not hardcore communist or dictator regime, it's a democracy. India cannot force its people to do so. What we are doing is slowly improving the infrastructure and mature the local industrial capabilities by making stuff in India under license production. This will bring back a lot of money in the economy and next phase is to increase the spending on R&D and start making our own stuff.
We tried something like maurt HF-24 in early 60's but did not have enough economic strength to carry it forward.

Money has just started rolling in from last decade and half. It has already started showing signs of improvement in various sectors.

:cheesy: "democracy" is like a vvhore, everyone can use it.

Best wishes for a true Indian Military complex, but first you have to make Indian "democracy" more attractive at least to overseas Indian talents.

You do realize China bought the S-400 too.

China still buys a lot of things like this from Russia even today. It's just not reported. Even a high profile system like the Su-35 is completely unreported in China, so forget about something like the Buk.

In late September/early October 2011 official Chinese media reported that co-development between Russia and China of the HQ-16 had been completed and that the missile had reached operational capability within the Chinese army. It is understood that development within China commenced as early as 2005.

In India, we have a policy where any imported weapon retains its foreign name. In China, the imported weapon is renamed. People don't know that the HQ-16 is simply a customized license produced Buk.

This is the 'indigenous' HQ-9's TEL.

This is the S-300 TEL exported to Iran.

In China the news would have gone, "China produces indigenous HQ-9."

If India had done this, the media would have reported it as, "India license produces customized S-300 called the S-300I." But we also call it indigenous production.

You tell me what's the difference.

Akash , SPYDER MR and Land Based B8 and ER version with another DRDO project on 200km SAM to start 30-200 km range window is closed. More than 200 KM range window is covered by S400 /(and a another system which interests our armed forces ) .

Below 30 KM
We have
1. SR SAM project
2. QRSAM Project
3. Vehicle Mounted MANPADS
4. MANPADS project.

It was apparent when he's named himself "Dung", but I made that post for people who do not troll, especially Indians who believe the Chinese don't import anymore.
both countries have enough people who like to boast and enough people who like to rub other people's faces. though arguing with those people is wasteful, it is not completely without merit. but insulting by playing with people's names is lower than both types of people.

Trolls are weeded out. But not here.
