The clashes and police firing that happened during an eviction drive in Darrang district of Assam on September 23 triggered outrage across the country.
While two civilians died in the police firing, the sight of a photographer, who was accompanying the police, desecrating the body of one of the firing victims evoked shock.
And the shock appears to have gone beyond India's borders.

On Thursday, Middle East Monitor, a portal focused on reporting from the region, revealed that members of the Kuwait National Assembly had condemned "the atrocities committed by the Indian authorities and Hindu extremist groups against the Muslim community".
In a reference to the incident in Assam,
"The lawmakers said in a joint statement that in the wake of the wave of violence and discrimination committed against Indian Muslims, including killing, displacement and burning, the lawmakers stand in solidarity with Muslims in India. They called on international, humanitarian, human rights and Islamic organisations to immediately work to stop the Indian authorities' actions and restore security to Indian Muslims," Middle East Monitor reported.

Kuwaiti MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri, reportedly, called for a boycott of Indian goods. Kuwaiti news outlet Sabr News on Wednesday quoted Al-Muwaizri as saying, "The Islamic World Organization, the leaders of Islamic countries, the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the United Nations, where are you about the heinous crimes committed by the Indian government against Muslims, men, women and children? Boycotting India and its products is a legal duty."

In Qatar, the Indian embassy issued a statement on Tuesday cautioning people about "malicious attempt on social media to spread hatred and disharmony through false propaganda about India". The embassy stated, "We urge everyone to exercise caution and not become a victim of fake handle, propaganda, doctored videos. All Indian nationals are advised to maintain unity and harmony."

According to reports, the statement, issued in English and Arabic, was prompted by a call on Twitter to boycott Indian products in the country.

On Wednesday, Doha News, a blog focusing on Qatar, reported the Twitter trend was a response to clips of the Assam violence. "This week, a video showing the moment in which a government photographer assaulted one of the evictees went viral online, prompting thousands to protest against the crackdown online. Social media users have accused the Indian government of turning a blind eye to the targeting of the Muslim community in the country, while others are now demanding the boycott of Indian products," Doha News reported.
Oman's grand mufti Sheikh Ahmed Al Khalili, one of the most influential clerics in the country, had tweeted on Tuesday about violence against Muslims in India. He claimed the violence in India was "a blatant aggression against Muslim citizens at the hands of extremist groups—supported by official bodies—it stops everyone with a human conscience." Sheikh Ahmed Al Khalili appealed, "I appeal—in the name of humanity—to all peace-loving countries to intervene to stop this aggression, and I also appeal to the Islamic Ummah as a whole to stand united in this matter."

. .
Muslims have to stand up for the rights of other Muslims when they are persecuted. We must start a boycott of indian goods and services. The governments of the Muslim countries won't do anything, so the civil society must step up to the plate.

The Muslim world outside of Pakistan does not hate India. For example, nobody hates Iraq or Syria because of ISIS. They hate violent ideological extremism, especially the gulf countries. Hindutva extremism is fanned by the government and targets Muslims. I took notice when Bharati politicians blamed Muslims for Covid calling for boycott and persecution. After the mass Covid casualties for a couple of months they picked up where they left off. They developed no sense of contrition.

Good!

About time the international community took note of the terrible situation unfolding in India.

Replying to you just because your flag is Indian. You're probably either unaware of the Assam situation or you're just angry as a global Muslim.

Assamese people were never against Muslims. Assamese muslims and other religious communities (there are many including a lot of indegenous tribal beliefs/ amalgamated ones) had been living in perfect harmony for more than 900 years, since long before the Mughals even knew that there was a golden paradize called Kamrup and other small indegenous nations. They still do...

The issue is with illegal Bangladeshi influx, which started in a small way at the insistence of the English since early 1900s (as cheap rice cultivators for the blooming tea industry workers). It was still ok as the influx was kept in check. However, since independance & particulary prior and aftermath of creation of Bangladesh, the influx level has been unimaginable. They're everywhere!! Living in ghettos, occupying lands illegally, engaging in anti-social activities & multiplying in manifolds (I have met a fisherman who used to work for my grandfather having 29 wives and 78 kids!! Not a benchmark though. Nonetheless general trend is not very inspiring either). This is destroying the culture and harmony of the the multi-racial & multi-faceted Assamese society & identity. Lot of non-violent movements had been there since 1970s agaist these illegal migrants (With one or two very rare viloent incidents also strewn in between). But in general, Assamese people donot condone violence. You can see that from the general reaction of Assam against this very ugly incident under discussion. People from all section of society had demanded toughest action against this barbaric photographer for his inhuman action. However, the core issues still remains, which is the illegal immigrants destroying Assamese society. Till the time, these illegal land grabbings and ghetto formation is there, Police action will & should be there.

However, if you're speaking only for your muslim brothers, I have nothing against you. You may continue your resentment & ignore all my blabberings above.

Nice long post justifying murder.

All I read is that the people you don't like or want have been now classified as "Bangladeshis", to somehow justify your bigotry and murderous tendencies.

Few questions.
1. Why did these BD people migrate post '71 to India and not return after BD independence. And if they migrated to India for economic reasons, why did they not go to West Bengal, where they can easily disguise among fellow Bengalis ?
2. Was Indian border security so lax that lakhs of BD people migrated unchecked?
3. Finally, what end game do you foresee. Most of them cannot be proven to be BD citizens, so they will be locked in detention centers forever?

Few questions.
1. Why did these BD people migrate post '71 to India and not return after BD independence. And if they migrated to India for economic reasons, why did they not go to West Bengal, where they can easily disguise among fellow Bengalis ?
- Purely economical reasons, sparse population of the region with scores of empty, extremely fertile & vacant area back then. Since BD is now doing really good in terms of growth, I expect influx to come to a halt now.

2. Was Indian border security so lax that lakhs of BD people migrated unchecked?
You have no idea!!! Even now it is, although it is 1000 times in better shape. Use google.

3. Finally, what end game do you foresee. Most of them cannot be proven to be BD citizens, so they will be locked in detention centers forever?

Cannot predict about government policy because all political parties are jokers and too finicky. Politicians in Assam/ India, are abjectly innept to take any positive & decisive actions and they only act for vote bank politics. Be it right, central or left wing...

However, if you ask me for my personal opinion, there's no way most of them can be thrown out now. Most had acquired residency/ documents till 1990s. The only way foreward now is:

1. Try negotiate to BD for the definite cases to be taken back, which I believe are not many. If required, offer BD some parcels of lands.
2. Allot adequate government lands to the completely landless ones to avoid these encroachments & formation of ghettos. Distribute them evenly throughout Assam.
3. Encourage them to get educated & try to amalgamate them with Assamese society & culture and to pursuade them to leave their ghettos, pursue adequate family planning practices and embrace Assamese culture, which is anyway multi-dimensional (unlike other parts of India).

The indigenous Assamese Muslims can be a great role model for them.

Thank you for your reply. Trusting what you say happened in the past, let me focus on what can be the future course of action.

1. Try negotiate to BD for the definite cases to be taken back, which I believe are not many. If required, offer BD some parcels of lands.
Offering Indian territory to BD is a no-go area politically and constitutionally for any govt. Anyways, you mentioned that there are a very few cases where we can prove BD nationality, so I do not see much benefit in offering land anyways.

2. Allot adequate government lands to the completely landless ones to avoid these encroachments & formation of ghettos. Distribute them evenly throughout Assam.
Most important is to give them shelter and a means of livelihood so that they are not a burden on tax payers. I understand that you want to distribute them evenly throughout Assam so they cannot influence politics by swinging votes in any constituency. This may be possible by offering them incentives to move. Forced move without giving means to live would not work.

3. Encourage them to get educated & try to amalgamate them with Assamese society & culture and to pursuade them to leave their ghettos, pursue adequate family planning practices and embrace Assamese culture, which is anyway multi-dimensional (unlike other parts of India).
Sure, we should facilitate education and assimilation. May be WB govt should take some of these as assimilation into WB would be much easier. In any case, taking away their citizenship rights to further curtail their education.

Lastly, these actions should be even-handed irrespective of religion. Indian / Assam govt should not be allowed to target only a particular religion as it gives a serious bad press and hampers any action. Any political party which tells you (Assamese) to vote on communal lines should be ousted.

.
All these indians on PDF look like that little ugly photographer jumping like a monkey.
You can see the bravery of these monkeys when they jump on a dead man, when the man was alive this monkey was hiding behind police lolz.

.
It will be all over lying J western media if anything like that happened in China.

.
The indigenous Assamese Muslims can be a great role model for them.

Reminds me of how white Americans perpetuated racism in the country by pointing out how Asian Americans can be a great model for Black Americans.
