SRINAGAR: Two days after militants launched a deadly attack on army base in Uri, close to Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir, there was ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in Uri sector on Tuesday.

“There has been a ceasefire violation in Uri sector. The Pakistani troops breached the border ceasefire,” an army official said.He said further details are being ascertained.

A heavily armed group of four militants had on Sunday attacked fortified army base in Uri town. At least 18 soldiers were killed and 29 others injured in the militant attack, which was one of the deadliest attack on army in the Valley.

All the four attackers said to be members of Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad were also killed in the over three-hour long gunfight.

Army said the weapons and items recovered from the militants were Pakistan-made and subsequently DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh took up the matter with his Pakistani counterpart.
