totally agreed.....but my post was targeting "JV just for marketing" which imo is not needed

i didn't just mean marketing. it also includes setting up assembly lines to produce these planes, HAL has a lot to produce already. technically HAL will get a slice out of every plane produced and sold with having contributed to the production of the aircraft. Embraer started off with similar aircraft and today they are producing very good commercial aircraft, for Indian companies to compete with them they will need a jump in capabilities to level the playing field cause R&D will take a long time if the private companies go it alone. So HAL will be making money out of the aircraft to recover development costs as well as helping the Indian companies.
