The AFT-9 is a Chinese anti-tank missile carrier. It is armed with HJ-9(Hong Jian-9 or Red Arrow-9) anti-tank guided missiles. The AFT-9 was adopted by the Chinese army in the late 1990s. It was first publicly revealed in 1999. This anti-tank missile carrier is also proposed for the export customers. Overall it is an advanced anti-tank missile system. The AFT-9 is capable of defeating even the latest main battle tanks.

The HJ-9 anti-tank guided missile was developed by NORINCO. Its development commenced in the late 1980s. It is designed to engage main battle tanks, armored vehicles and fortifications.

The HJ-9 missile is similar in appearance to the American BGM-71D TOW 2, Israeli TAAS MAPATS and South African Ingwe anti-tank missiles. However it is not confirmed, weather the HJ-9 uses TOW 2, MAPATS or Ingwe technology. The HJ-9 has a semi-automatic laser guidance. Once the missile is launcher, operator only has to keep the sight's crosshair on the target. Missile has two solid fuel rocket motors (booster and cruise). Maximum range of fire is up to 5 km.

The HJ-9 missile has a tandem HEAT warhead. It is claimed, that it penetrates up to 1 200 mm of steel armor behind ERA. It can penetrate the front armor even of the latest main battle tanks. It is speculated, that this missile can be also fitted with HE or thermobaric warheads for use against infantry and fortifications.

The AFT-9 anti-tank missile carrier is based on a chassis of a WZ550 4x4 armored personnel carrier, which is a variant of the WZ551 6x6 infantry fighting vehicle. It has a retractable weapon station with 4 launchers that are ready to use. In traveling mode missile launchers are retracted inside the hull. This weapon station is controlled remotely. Also there are 8 reload missiles, stored inside the hull. So a total of 12 missiles are carried. Missiles are reloaded automatically. Rate of fire is about 2 missiles per minute.

The AFT-9 is a day/night system, capable of operating in all weather conditions.

Armor of this vehicle provides protection against small arms fire and artillery shell splinters. It is also fitted with NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems.

Vehicle is operated by a crew of three, including commander, operator and driver.

The AFT-9 is powered by a German Deutz turbocharged diesel engine, developing 320 hp. It is fitted with a central tyre inflation system and run-flat tyres. Prototype of this anti-tank missile carrier had amphibious capability. However production vehicle is not amphibious. Vehicle can be airlifted by Il-76MD or Y-8 military transport aircraft.

It can defeat it :enjoy:

. . . .
PA also has M-901.

But the problem is that MAAZ uses HJ-8 and M-901 uses TOW-II whereas HJ-9 is the next gen ATGM.

.
how

think only 9M123 Khrizantema has a decent chance of beating the latest gen APS

not saying it's foolproof.
Who say that? HJ-9 is a heavy Tandem warhead ATGM, it is not man portable. You can imagine the powerful propulsion system and its warhead with its weight and size. Unless the tank has a 2m thick armour, it is not able to withstand that power.

.
APS could theoretically be circumvented with top-attack missiles, an example of which is the AFT-10, a shortened variant of the CM-501G:

It can if 2 are fired simultaneously, which they can.
