PLAN and Chinese military in general do not release technical specifications of their weapons systems, especially one as strategically sensitive as their nuclear subs. It's part of their strategy of keeping adversaries in the dark about their true capabilities. Any info out there is just guess work and speculation by 'experts' in the field.

I have already posted a topic the Type 093G weeks ago.

The Type 093G has incorporated a lot of similar technologies to the Seawolf/Virginia class SSN, but due the limitation of its hull design and nuclear reactor, it is still inferior to the best SSN of the USN.

So this means the Type 095 is expected to catch up.

As i said before, it is semi-official.

Huanqiu.com in last year just reported the specification of the base Type 093, it is close to the LA class.

CPC would leak some info of the previous generation if they got the newer one.

Why do the Chinese gov makes these strange leaks? The J-20 and J-31 is an perfect example of that. Will the 095 boomer be the main SLBM of the PLAN or occupy as an nuclear powered attack Sub like the Varginia?

The Type 096 will be the SSBN of the new generation, while the Type 095 is the SSN.

In simple terms, noise generated by the vessel's operation. Engine, propulsion, movement etc. Everything generates some noise (sound), which is much more notable in water than air.

This is a very sensible post and I hope the Chinese members here think twice the next time they have the urge to bring up that silly story about a Song class sub surfacing near the Kitty Hawk just to show off Chinese sub capability.

You know that was true, you just don't want to admit it because it stings your ego.

Even Larry Wortzel told this actually happened and it wasn't made up.

The US Navy got royally embarrassed.
