Abu Dhabi Group Cancels Massive Pakistan Project

This was such a big and crucial chance for Pakistan to allow inflow of massive investments and with it , jobs but...........:hitwall:
Why was the project cancelled ?

You cannot have democracy in a country where the literacy rate hovers close to 20%.

That is the problem

Though off topic , I dis agree here.

The literacy level in next door India is not high either and was lower still in the 50's & 60's . Yet democracy grew roots.

Its the will that matters.

My views.

LOLZZZZ.....I knew this was coming since the day this news broke......it is like showing a carrot to the rabbit but never giving it to him....hahaha!:omghaha:

go to through the threads on this topic.most of the pak members themselves were of the opinion that this was nothing but a political stunt.

. .
Who knows?
Perhaps they demanded cancellation of the Iran pipeline as a precondition.
There my friend you have brought an important aspect.

We should discuss it from geo-politics POV. Is there an angle of Gwadar to China related to this news ?

When will Pakistan ever learn that Pakistan does not have dearth of Capital. All they need to do is clean up the system and gaurantee GOOD GOVERNANCE and FAIR PLAY and the money will come.

There is enough money of Non Resident Pakistanis that will flock in if the SYSTEM was cleaned up and made fair.

Also the reverse BRAIN DRAIN WILL OCCUR because Pakistanis with foreign Nationalities are dying to return home to help their country. All they ask is to have an iron clad fair play because they don't want to be at the mercy of thieves and looters like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari.

Get a decent Govt, in Pakistan and watch the country rise out of the ashes like a PHOENIX.

lol, good pep talk. :)
I would be happy if abu dhabi group invests a part of it in India, FDI should be welcome, whether we have our own resources or not is not the point.

. .
I already new that this massive project wont be viable for a city like Karachi, the return on investment would have been the crucial issue here.

.
This deal was already cancelled after 2 3 day (actually no agreement just yes yes no no sir) nothing else. That deal will never ever possible in such situation because of political parties fighting with each other and very ***** mentality ministers and people sitting on top of positions in our Govt and rest of other private organizations.

.
Not signed, yes ?

What's your take in case of Gwadar w.r.t this cancellation ?

It will continue as planned, if the news reports are to be believed. I'm not an insider so my take is irrelevant.

Quite frankly, I wasn't even very impressed by the proposed project and I don't know whose palms would have been greased. There are already so many different real estate projects; it's not an area in which FDI is so crucial. But anyways this discussion kind of ends where I reiterate they no deal was signed

You can't cancel a deal when there was no deal to begin with, make sense?

As much as Gwadar annoys the UAE, they wouldn't want to spoil any relations with China. I suspect UAE (and others) will try to sabotage Gwadar by supporting terrorism and separatism in Baluchistan.

On Iran, however, they don't need to play coy and I am sure the Iran pipeline was a sticking point in the discussions.

Not sabotage but they know China can develop Gwadar into a possible competitor to Dubai. Its about economic interests. I don't think destabilizing the region is just one ploy.

Baluchistan issue is already taken by US and West to stop China to get access to Gulf and Africa.

There are many countries who would like to see Gwadar fail, each for their own reasons.

Some don't like the competition, others don't like Chinese presence, yet others would prefer a separate puppet Baluch country, etc. etc.

A carrot shown by ummah to gain some favor favor denied carrot pulled.
