. . . . . .
When will Pakistan ever learn that Pakistan does not have dearth of Capital. All they need to do is clean up the system and gaurantee GOOD GOVERNANCE and FAIR PLAY and the money will come.

There is enough money of Non Resident Pakistanis that will flock in if the SYSTEM was cleaned up and made fair.

Also the reverse BRAIN DRAIN WILL OCCUR because Pakistanis with foreign Nationalities are dying to return home to help their country. All they ask is to have an iron clad fair play because they don't want to be at the mercy of thieves and looters like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari.

Get a decent Govt, in Pakistan and watch the country rise out of the ashes like a PHOENIX.

I assume the "they" highlighted above who needs to "get" a decent government are the Pakistani voters. Right? So, what is wrong with them? Too stupid? Too ignorant? Seems like a chicken and an egg type problem. The Pakistani voters can't get smart enough to get a decent government until they get a decent government .....

So I don't know how much you have been studying the Political situation of Pakistan and if you are aware of the demographics.

Majority of Pakistanis live in small villages and are illiterate. They are totally dependent on their WADERAS/JAGIRDARS/SARDARS for their meagre existence.

They vote for whoever the WADERA says to vote for. Quite often WADERAS own men carry other peoples voter ID cards to vote on their behalf. The whole system is corrupt to the core and Democracy in Pakistan is a big Sham and fraud.

You cannot have democracy in a country where the literacy rate hovers close to 20%.

That is the problem

So, I guess it's hopeless? Pakistan can't ever have a decent government unless some benevolent strongman (like a Musharraf) comes along, seizes the power and money from the feudals, and "gives" the rural Pakistanis an education, all the while fighting off the Islamic nutcases. Is that it?

TruthSeeker is right.

The situation in Pakistan is complex and part of the blame lies with the local population also.

The basic setup is that the Sindhi and Punjabi feudals have formed a cabal to take turns looting the country. The generals have been bought off with a generous annual budget and no questions asked. The population has also been bought off, to a large extent, by a generous tax holiday. The only people who pay proper taxes are salaried employees of large corporations.

Pakistan is essentially a collection of fiefdoms run by local feudal and/or ethnic power-lords. The concept of a central government collecting taxes and providing governance is all but absent.

So, everybody whines at dinner parties and in the media, but then they all go home to their tax-free existence, fill up their personal bank balance at the expense of the country and the whole drama repeats.

That is what it all boils down to.

We have to empower our masses through Education and this is the main reason why the Waderas and Sardars don't want the masses to be educated.

Many Pakistanis are inclined to believe that the resolution of this situation is not in democracy but 10 to 20 years of a benevolent Military dictatorship to change the demographical face of Pakistan through education.

Our low literacy rates are the root of most of our Societal ills i.e. Religious fanticism/extremism, lack of Productivity, Emotionalism etc.

Musharraf had the opportunity but he squandered it with his lust of power and enjoyment. He made deals with the same lowlife Politicians like the Chaudary Brothers instead of bringing 10 years of technocrats to fix the situation.

Ab ismein bhi Zardari? Aren't you stretching this too far. Pakistan mein koi chikta hai to wo bhi due to Zardari kya?

They are wrong. There is nothing called Benevolent Military dictatorship. Musharraf is a good example. Humans are bound to make mistakes in Power (they make mistakes without power too). The most critical part of a good GOVT is independent Checks and Balances for accountability. Pakistan Lacks these institutions and thats the root of all problem. And the responsibility of that lies with the rulers including Military who have ruled it for more than half of the duration since its independence.

Yeah, this is what happens when you have apathetic, impotent sheep for people. They keep on waiting for a miracle which will never happen because, frankly, their sincerity and energy is all emptied in their ritualistic "blame everyone but myself from the comfort of my living room sofa" games.

The deal was never signed and the MOU had been cancelled long time ago!
