About three quarters of Chinese believe that their military could best both that of Japan and the US

At present no one in his right mind believes China can beat the U.S. in an all out war. But, China has enough to fight off anyone for a war at its door way. Asymmetric warfare is the key. In the long run though, China will be able lift its strategic weapons to reach mutual destructive capability.

give me a source for the 1 million and for 100,000? Indians also have this bad habit of not liking this thing called "evidence".

total deployment wasn't even 1 million on the Chinese side and far exceeded 100,000 on the US side.

China sent an excess of 1 million troops to Korean front

American estimates:

400,000+ dead
486,000 wounded
21,000 POW
----------------------
907,000 soldiers

cheen's claims:

152,000 dead
383,500 wounded
450,000 hospitalized
4,000 missing
7,110 captured
---------------------------------
996,610 soldiers

QED ~ 1 million soldiers lost as either MIA, KIA, injured, or captured

Wow, with that many soldiers China could have conquered half of India given how cowardly, weak and pathetic Indian soldiers were in '62. Goes to show that China is nice.

ignorance is bliss.

You mean the 1 million soldiers you lost to 100,000 American and Koreans? You guys sure won that war...

Korean War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Death/wounded ratio in Korean war is 1.3:1 in favor of UN force, but considering the death/wounded ratio of allies vs axis was 2:1 in favor of axis, I would say the Chinese did just fine. Also, the peak troop deployment numbers in Korean peninsula is fairly close as well. I am not sure where you got the 100,000 number. The total number of troops deployed by UN at the time is close to a million and American death/wounded alone is close to 150,000.

I suppose Ghana also believes that it can defeat USA but nationalism does not equates reality.

China cannot handle USA in a conventional war in modern times, too much disparity.
