Yup. Directly targeting the military top brass based on internal meetings is normally a bridge too far for any country.
If you are not part of a restricted committee, you have the full right to ask for explanation from any arm of the government.
The common modus operandi is to leak the embarrassing details but never like this in open , recorded venues.
