Dhaka, Dec 24 (bdnews24.com) – The first namaz-e-janaza of late Awami League leader Abdur Razzak has been held in London.

The janaza was held around 12pm local time at the Brick Lane mosque on Saturday.

Local government minister Syed Ashraful Islam attended the janaza along with other Bangalee expatriates.

His remains is expected to reach Dhaka 11am Sunday aboard a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, starting 5pm local time from London, according to a civil aviation ministry press release.

The Awami League advisory council member died at 03:50pm local time, which is 9:50pm Bangladesh standard time, on Friday while under treatment at King's College Hospital in London. He was 69.

Abdur Razzak, MP, one of the leading organisers of the 1971 Liberation War to have never lost an election, had been on life support for three days.

The Shariatpur-3 legislator had been suffering from liver diseases for three months. Since then, he was admitted in that hospital.

Doctors there were planning to transplant his liver on Dec 11 but later said his kidney needed to be transplanted, too. They had been planning to do both surgeries simultaneousy.
