President Gül knows english very well, and he's a very down to earth kind of person. He's well known for being a kind person even when he responds to people. Which is the opposit of how Erdogan is.
I don't know the chances of having a Turk in the role of NATO's general secretary, but it's quite slim considering the prestige. However remember that Turkey isn't nodding yes to everything NATO does or says, so in a way a Turkish person as the Head of NATO would mean news times for NATO as well. In a way an end to the cold war mentality.
Turks have already been head of different international organisation such as PACE, or had a term in the UNSC, so I hope we can keep up this trend and fill out more and more important positions (remember Kemal Dervis was in IMF before coming back to save turkish economy (i know people have diff. opinions about that POV so save it)).
