What's new

AAP Delhi- 55 out of 70?

Surprise!! I'm a member of the BJP myself!!

But I didn't expect this crap from some of our elected reps . They've gone overboard with the extreme 'Hindutva' crap they're dishing out.

And BJP was once a structured party not a one man show like the Congress where all decisions are taken by the top honcho. It's now becoming like the Congress with Amit Shah taking all decisions without consultations with the party. Like when he parachuted Bedi as CM candidate out of nowhere, which surprised all, creating a lot of heartburn and dissent within the ranks of the BJP's Delhi unit which rebelled. He is now eating humble pie.

And who the heck starts campaigning 15 days before an election? The AAP has been canvassing door to door since the past 6 months! Arrogance and overconfidence has ground the BJP into the dust in Delhi. This should be a wake-up call. In fact BJP's rout in Delhi is a blessing in disguise. A lot of lessons will need to be learnt from this debacle so that it's not repeated in the future.

can you tell me why was harshvardhan not projected as CM

There was a lot of negative publicity against BJP stalwarts by the AAP especially on the corruption front. The BJP got cold feet and wanted someone who could fight the muffler man with the same coin. Bedi was an ideal candidate, or so Amit Shah thought, as she was considered above board. He thought it would be a masterstroke and would pull the rug from under Kajri's feet. But that strategy was a failure of galactic proportions resulting in dissent within the party which lost steam. Parachuting a nonentity in politics 15 days before elections was a bad bad idea.

i can understand , you are working in an office for 20 years hoping that one day you will be promoted for the top job but instead of you someone from the street is picked and made your boss , no one would like it plus bedi is a very bad politician . She is a hot head and would have been a disaster even if she had won .

Means he's lost the confidence of Delhi. Sometimes people choose different parties at state and national level, but a massive loss would surely indicate that people no longer agree with his vision. This election result is clear- you can hobnob with Obama as much as you want but people want corruption removed, they don't want communal politics. If Modi doesn't change his style to match these expectations, he will start losing voters and be booted out of power.
I agree with you..Off late, even i noticed that Modi is justi doing so much of show off than doing work on ground.. So i hope AK will not make the same mistake...AK is seems to be a genuine guy...But any way, i will celebrate Delhi election whoever wins because for the 1st time, there will be no Congi parties not minority appeasing Janatha Dal thugs in the picture of Delhi election....

result of delhi elections will have direct effect on outcome of Punjab elections next year.

BJP shot themselve in foot by taking support from Dera sauda .......and Navjot sidhu lost his credibilty after asking for votes for Akalis in Delhi ......whom he abused publically in election rallies in Jammu and haryana.

People of Punjab and lots of NRI's donated and campaigned for AAP in Delhi ......hoping AAP will save Punjab and in long run liberate Akali Dal from Badals.

even yesderday on TV during exit polls discusion ......anchors were saying this that BJP have lost election in Punjab , even when a year is left for polling

sure akalis need to go but i would have preferred a more mature party than AAP .

i think it will be congrss this time in punjab under amrinder singh

In Delhi's election BJP did what Congress had done with Modi. Congress in Parliament election was not talking about what they can bring to the people rather talking about negative. They were demonizing Modi, they were playing the communal card. They were mud slugging. This time, BJP replaced the congress and did all these to AK. AAP was talking only about development. AAP was talking about what they can bring or do for Delhi. Hence BJP lost. As they failed to even bring any manifesto for Delhi. They become arrogant and under the high of Modi Wave.

People at national and state level have only voted for development. They have clearly shown no matter which party you belong to, if you talk stupid, then you will be rooted out. There is nothing called free lunch and parties and politicians now have to behave and show what they can do.

I started loving political system on India, especially after Anna's movement. He is the one who rejuvenate the interest of young's into politics of India. Kudos to him.

Yes. Also people have seen how BJP talks double standards in elections. In maharastra their whole campaign was against pawars and they end up by closing to ruling party. Same is the case with J&K. BJP fought the whole election against PDP and now they are forming the government.
Is there any guarantee that if BJP forms the government and Kiran Bedi do something or takes actions against the corrupt BJP workers in the MCD, she would not be replaced? No there is none. As KB will be just a dwarf in powerful Modi's BJP.

One year more than enough for people of rest of the country to validate and review the progress or work done by AAP in Delhi. I guess AAP is a regional party as of now. They should not try to become national atleast till next election or even election after that. They need to concentrate on local issues and show to people what they can deliver. Once they have done enough work then their work will speak for themselves and they will rise to the national level.

Congress is a gone case. They would not be able to revive untill they correct their leadership. RG or SG are not competent enough for the present politics and especially when you have opponents like Modi and Kejriwal. Either Congress have to replace either or them or both by bringing a new leader which I afraid is none at the moment.

I disagree with you. Negative campaign is against the actions taken or rather no actions taken by BJP governemnt. They ahve talked about bringing black money in 100 days (how ever it may be impractical but they did promise in manifesto), they talked about reducing the electricity bill, they talked about rooting out the corruption, they talked about bringing heaving to earth etc etc...but nothing as of now.
Also in one of the ad published on voting day, the very first accomplishment they stated was reducing the price of petrol/diesel/gas. I was not sure what BJP thought of Delhi;s people, but everyone on the street was/is aware the price reduction is because of international price reduction. Nothing from BJP policy has caused this reduction. Rather BJP policy has resulted in increase in prices by Rs12 as they have increase the excise duty on the oil products. They really wanted to take Delhi's people on ride. They need to think different when ever they come to people of Delhi as unlike other states where there is massive rural population as well, in Delhi so called rural population is also urban population and is aware of everything happening around them.

there is a lot of anti-incumbency against the badals in punjab , almost every other punjabi i meet is seen to be criticizing akalis as a rogue party . They won by a whisker last time against congress so i am predicting a congress victory this time around in punjab , AAP would miss their star campaigner in punjab (kejriwal) since he would be CM of delhi thus it won't be that easy run for AAP. Punjabis right now seem to be fed up with the badals & somehow want them out so congress leadership won't be a factor here i guess .

I agree aap right now needs to concentrate on delhi and develop their model of governance but its ideology is no way regional , it has a lot of scope to spread its wings in entire india . We can say DMK(tamil oriented) , akalis or sp , rjd are regional parties but AAP will emerge as a major national party , might even go on replace congress as the real challenge to BJP considering the leadership of congress .

We will have to wait for some survey to come up on whether Modi's popularity has taken a huge hit but unlikely. The freshness of Modi in power has somewhat diminished but by all indications, he remains fairly popular. As you do know, the votes were more for Modi rather than any sudden love for the BJP & it's agenda. He is not on the ballot, difficult to sustain. If your know your history, Karnataka under Ramakrishna Hegde went for state polls after Rajiv Gandhi's stupendous LS win in 1984 and the tables were completely turned on the congress. That was an election almost immediately after, still in RG's honeymoon period. This behaviour is not new, what was extraordinary was the BJP winning states like Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkand & doing well in J&K just on the basis of Modi, this election is more the norm.
There is an old saying in Indian politics , the party which rules Karnataka shall not rule Delhi. :)

This is the first time I have heard of said saying :)

Note that the strategy is not to accept that there is corruption and therefore reform themselves, but launch a media campaign against the opposition to say they are corrupt.

No media channels is talking about its own exit polls from yesterday looks like they dont completely thrust their own surveys and are afraid of loosing credibility if actual results dont match with their predictions.

That is because the other party promised FREE electricity and FREE water and what not. And 40% in India will vote for anyone who hands out doles. Another 20% will vote for any party that can keep BJP out. These have a pathological hatred for BJP. Thats 60% vote. That is the reason for this landslide victory. There is a reason why most corrupt Congress party headed by a family ruled for 60 years. Modi's victory is just an aberration. It will be corrected in 2019.

Moral of the story - India can only dream of coming anywhere close to China.

I forgot, the NRI who knows more about our country than the humble Indian native does.

this free Wifi thing is possible for a city like Delhi.......

i guess AAP took this idea from South Korea where whole country have acess to free wifi all over country .....even tourist have access...they just have to log in by giving their passport details ......and few minutes later a validation msg is sent to u with ur unique passcord for WiFi.

also regarding free water................last time when AK presented budget .....it showed only 50 crore are needed for water subsidy .....and 300 cr for electricity.

350 cr is not a big deal considering budget of delhi is over 40,000 cr.

That is a Gross Generalization. I hardly believe people in delhi voted because of freebies. They voted because of corruption free administration they had realized in 49 days of AAP government. Either in favor or against, but freebies is not at all an agenda for voting.

Also, from providing free services point of view, I believe these are something government should be providing especially essential services like Water, roads, public transportation etc etc. Government can collect taxes and then use those taxes to provide these services. There are numerous examples in the world where government provide services free or highly subsidies for example health care etc. Just putting money tag on every thing like American way is not always the perfect way.
