The problems in Maldives are a whole different issue.

"Friends of India"? mmm...can you elaborate on this? Or are our Muslim 'brothers' ignorant about the whole thing? Bangladesh and India are not technically allies nor enemies. And of-course we have trade, just like India buy oil from Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia have good links with India. Hell, there are many people of Indian origin in Malaysia.

Aww, that's sad bro , but the world's like this. You gotta give up something to get something good. I think being hated by muslims is a small price to pay , especially when you guys get to hang out with cool people like us . There are other benefits too , for instance , you can jump the border and visit our cities once in a while etc

At present the relations between the ruling AL and the Middle Eastern countries isn't that good.

Wow never knew how Bangladeshis are suffering due to their 'friendship' with India. Bangladesh should immediately cut all ties with India and call back their high commissioner from New Delhi. We cannot see our 'friends' suffer in this manner but please do ask your Muslim friends why their countries (except for Pakistan) keep good relation with India.

Also about Maldives, have you ever been to that country or you are basing your statement on 1 or 2 Maldivian friends.

i agree with this one we are still not matured enough for a union instead a more practical option IMHO will be

a defense pact between Pakistan & Bangladesh (not too sure about the Maldives it all depends whether China can widen its influence in there through the Seychelles/hambantota base from the Indian ocean )

I have been to Maldives fyi. I know all about Bangladeshis and how they are treated. They treat them even worse than many Arab countries. They act as if they are pseudo-Arabs themselves. May be you should ask your friends about their country's treatment of your fellow countrymen. Not everyone believes in this Ummah stuff.

They absolutely resent the Banghalis as they put it in their country. There has been a lot of illegal human trafficking from Bangladesh. That could also be the reason. They describe Bangladeshis as US describes Mexicans. I am sorry but this is the truth. You can check with your consulate in Maldives. The amount of abuse cases they get is staggering.

PS: "Friends with India" may be a suicide note for you. But India as a country has a very successful partnership with many of Arab countries. They even started treating us right since the past decade. I am sure it will only get better. May I suggest next time you visit those forums, say you are friend of Pakistan. That is if their approval is important for you to be happy.

Religiously they look down upon as Pagans. But India is omnipresent there. Most of them has either visited India or know someone who visited India. India is looked upon as a big brother. There is resentment but there is also support. Of all south asians, I would say we are better.

Just see Canada- it lives with Quebec province, which wanted to get out of the federation. In the last election, Bloc Quebequa, representing independent wanna bies, got only 2 or3 seats. Such Union not only protect us from outsiders but also it will be a strong multicultural society but islamic. Islam, what we have common. If we truely believe Laa Ilaha illallah Muhammadur rasulullah, and practice the common rules islamically, then I say 100% it is possible. If someone is muslim by heart, they can't deny it.

They better be. We supply their food products, take care of their health and education and most importantly guarantee their sovereignty.

Also with increasing prosperity many Indians chose Maladives as their holiday destination.

Well, OIC isn't a country. The Union will be a country within which there will be independent countries. I think it is a different type of a concept.
